Thinking of staying on site now (not till 2015 but trying to work out costs) without a car (to save cost on car rental/insurance/parking), but do want to visit Universal, IOA and Seaworld probably 3-4 days in total. Don't want to do a split stay and it would be a budget hotel, probably Pop Century. (there will be me, hubby and daughter who will be about 7/8).

Questions:-

How do you book the Magical Express from/to airport? and if not possible how much is a taxi?

How much is a taxi from Disney (pop) to Universal?

How much is a taxi from Disney (pop) to Sea World?

Reasons for wanting to stay on-site, is that it will be DD's first trip and want it to be extra special, we have never stayed on site, the thought of using the pools during some afternoons is appealing. Also we want to be able to be close to DTD in the evenings without having to drive (not keen on night driving and have always got lost getting out of dis property back to I-drive )

Don't know about cabs but there's a direct bus to Sea World from DTD or the TTC for $2 each.

You can also get to Universal on the bus for $2 but it involves two buses and then a 10 minute walk. Most people aren't game for that.

We stay on site and love it, its great not having a car for a few weeks.
The cabs will be around $35 plus tip.

Last time we planned 2 days at Universal in a row.
What we then did was take a cab 1 day, stayed overnight at a Universals HRH hotel and then take a cab back to the Disney hotel the next night.
We still kept the Disney hotel but just didnt stay there for 1 night.

Now I know that sounds expensive as its around $200 for a night at a Universal hotel but if you think about the extra cab fares
Then you get 2 days worth of Universal express passes each-the day you check in and the day you check out.
It then really doesnt cost extra plus we find it so much more relaxing :thumbsup2

Although I think I know how to book Magical Express, i'll let someone who's done it, explain it to you. :goodvibes
It really is easy without a car, although many love being able to drive over there too.

Thanks all this is really useful stuff to add to my spreadsheet....i'm not the only one with spreadsheet am I? :lmao:

Wagneg thanks for the taxi estimator, I've saved it.

Didn't realise how expensive it would be in a taxi if flying into Sanford (spell!) $120, blimey. I will see where we end up flying into (depends on if can get direct flights from BHX to MCO by 2015 in Oct) and might end up getting a car just for the airport transfers and non Dis days. I'll still save on Dis parking.

Last year we booked through *********************.com. A 2 day / 2 park pass for Universal Studios and IOA with transportation included comes to $158 (adult) and $144 (child). the transportation is through Mears and they pick you up at your hotel and you can return back anytime until 2am with 1 hours notice - they will give you a number to call.

I've just done some quick maths and it works out at $9 per adult and $7 per child for the a round trip. ($158 - $140(Universal price)) / 2 trips).

We will book through them again this year as this is the cheapest option that I have found.

I hope this helps!
