Taxi availbility

We are staying at Fort Wilderness (June 5th!!) and are going to be mainly trying to use Disney transport.

Thre are some times during our stay that we will probably have "tight" connections.

I plan on using taxis for these times.

How easy are they to get? Advance notice required? For example on one day we are going to be at MGM, then back to FW to freshen up, and off to DTD.

My guess is that we will take disney transport to MGM, a taxi back from MGM, and a taxi to and from DTD.

How does the whole taxi thing work at disney? Are they just hanging out waitng for fares at the parks/resorts?

There are always taxis available at all the Disney resorts. In the unlikely event that one is not waiting the CM at the outside desk will get one for you in no time.
I am not sure about the Theme Parks. I cannot see taxis waiting there for fares since almost everyone there would either drive in or use Disney transportation.
What you could do from the Studios is either walk or take the boat to the first stop (Dolphin/Swan) and grab a taxi from there.

There are always taxis waiting at the theme parks as well. There are taxi stands somewhere nearby the gates of all the themeparks (at the MK its out at the TTC with the other car traffic). If one isn't there, there will be a phone that will call one.

I'm not sure how it works out at Ft. Wilderness - with it all spread out. At most resorts they pick up out by the front desk.

We use taxis at least twice during every visit. As posted earlier, if they are not outside the hotel the valet desk will call one. They are also readily available at all park entrances with the exception being BB & TL. As you exit any park just ask the CM who will be stamping your hand and they will point you in the right direction.

Enjoy!! It saves a LOT of stress when you are trying to make a PS.
