Tax Time???

Just gathering my stuff up for the tax man. We bought in the end of 08 and since Kidani did not open until 05/09 wondering when/what should I be receiving from DVC for property taxes paid in 09?

Someone the other day asked the same question and I think the poster said it was called a Form 1098?? That person said that Disney would send one in the mail...I do not know how to link you to that thread.

If you financed with Disney, you will receive a Form 1098 if there was any mortgage interest paid.

For property taxes, you will have to use the Actual Property Tax Paid amount on your Annual Dues Statement.

I have the Annual Dues Statement from last year. Property tax Estimated was 153.26....on the Annual Dues statement I just got last month it has Propery Tax actual 5.80 and I have a credit for 147.46.

Hardly even seems worth the effort to claim 5.80

I would think the numbers should add up pretty easily if you wanted to plan ahead. You can look at your history and it will show the taxes paid and also each month interest which you could just add up. I'm surprised they dont have a place you can download a 1098 right off of the site, but they dont, or I havent found it.

The dues statement received recently has the correct information - in your case, the actual taxes paid for 2009 were the $5.80 since the estimated was based on the resort opening on January 1, 2009 and even then it was prorated. You received any overpaid balance as a credit on your 2010 dues.
