Tax changes for this year?

Is there a new withholding in place for the year 2006? Some people at work are gettting less on their checks today and I got a dollar more so I was wondering if there is a new withholding schedule/rate for this year? BTW, the ones getting more withheld are claiming married and I claim Single.

Cool, my DH must be real sexy because his check is about $20 more! I have to have him check on that because it should be a couple hundred less because of the 401K deduction that went into effect today.

Yes, there are new withholding tables which are published every year effective January 1. Go to www.irs.gov and look for Curcular E, publication 15 if you are interested. The personal exemption amount has been adjusted from 3,200 to 3,300 this year. My check was 58 cents higher.

I thought yesterday's paycheck was weird. I'm salaried and my check is one of three amounts depending on when health insurance and disability insurance are deducted.

I just compared the deductions for 1/12/06 and 12/29/05. The fedeal tax is .29 less in the new year - a savings of about $15 over the course of the year (53 pay periods)
