I do not...although I have them elsewhere ,like the back of my neck....
However my sister does, she put each of her boys names on a wrist and it is beautiful! It suits her so well.

did it hurt really bad? that's my biggest fear. haha. i probably shouldn't get a tattoo if my only fear is how bad it's going to hurt. i've also read that it itches really bad when it's healing.

my sister and i are going to get matching pearl the octopus from finding nemo ones.

Actually that is a sensitive area but I don't think it will be too bad, I think the art is worth it. I think the idea is wonderful. I have one on my back and my reward when I lose 10lbs is a new tat.

I'm planning on getting one there too very soon. I have other tattoos in much worse (as in painful) areas so I'm really not too worried about the pain

the inside of the wrist, near where the hand attaches is a bit sensitive. nothing to cry about. the main concern with tattoos in this area is taking extra care through the healing process. since it is in an area that bends and moves frequently; it requires a watchful and careful eye during aftercare.

now, the top of the hand, back of the head, knuckles, inside the bottom lip and the baby skin on the inside of your arm near your armpit......... :scared1: i'm tattooed in all of those places and they hurt like crazy. but it was worth it!!!

i've also read that it itches really bad when it's healing.
they do. very, very badly. DO NOT under anycircumstances scratch it. The key here is to pat or slap the area. I have been known to look like im abusing myself by slapping a tattoo itch.

thank you all so much for your replies!!

i just want to know what to expect when i'm going in for it, you know? i'm really excited about it! i've always liked them, especially when they have a story to them. my boyfriend however, doesn't approve of them...

i've never gotten a tattoo before, but i thought it would be nice to get one with my sister since we don't really do much together and don't get to see each other all that often. we're getting the tattoo of something that means something to the both of us. a nice bonding experience if you will...

thanks for the advice on the patting and slapping. i'm sure people will look at me like i'm nuts, but at least it won't scab or get infected.

we want to get this done before we go on vacation to disney together in july, since you can't go swimming for a month...

i have one on my ankle..its a ladybug..and boy it hurt like the dickens...but its worth it..just remember it is a permanent part of your body ..

my sister and i are actually going to get pearl from finding nemo. she's going to get one version and i'm going to get another. we found a couple of pictures online that look exactly like what we want.

we've had a longstanding joke about octopi and we really want to do this together.

Hmmm I guess everyone is different, I didn’t really think any of mine hurt. Where I was getting it just kind went numb and then afterwards it felt like it was sunburned. I do agree that it is a permanent thing so I would recommend doing something fake and see if you like it. After all if a fake one annoys you can get rid of it......

I have one on my arm, it is a flower band that goes around my arm. My advice to you, is really make sure you want it. Even though it can be covered by a watch "you" will see it EVERY DAY. Add me to the list of people that truely wish they had NEVER got one. Maybe it would not be so bad if it were on my back where I could not see it all the time, but knowing what I know now, I would have never got it. In fact I am looking into getting it removed. Mine never itched when it was healing and it didn't hurt that bad, mostly I think it depends on the tattoo artist and how well you handle pain. Oh, ya, did I mention my advice???????.........Don't do it!! ;)

I have one on my inner wrist, and it didn't hurt one bit, but dh say's I am not one for good advice on that as I have a lot of tats, in all different areas, and not a single one hurt in the least bit. I will say that they will itch like crazy and putting something cold on them and slapping them is the best thing you can do, it only itches for about a week the second week in of healing, IMO.
Be warned though that they are addicting....dh and I have appt for a new one the first tuesday of every month, through the end of the year......we call it tattoo tuesday! (on their anniversary week our tattooist runs a special of 30% off all booked appts with 20.00 down!!!!!)

Make sure it is absolutely and completely coverable. One of my DSs is applying for a program and one stipulation is, "no visable tattoos." Thankfully he has none.

I didn't go through that. Never had the itches. Not sure if it makes a difference but I used A&D and kept plastic wrap over it. Wash it off and re-apply 3 times a day.

Inner wrist not sure of the pain. Just make sure your future life plans will allow you to have tat's that show. :)

One piece of advice I will give you is to take your designs and talk to your artist prior to your appointment. Your designs are cute but I am thinking they are very close to flesh tones and might not show up like you want them to.

My DD got her first tattoo on Monday and the artist said, as far as pain goes, any area near a tendon is likely to be more sensitive than other spots but it all depends on the person. DD got an ankle wrap (peace, love, and mickey!::MickeyMo ) and she said the outlining was the only part that hurt.
The artist told her the pain was somewhat like a cat scratch on a sunburn and she said he was exactly right.

Be sure to post pics when you get it done!

I have an inner wrist tat and I seriously screamed a few times when I got it!

The guy told me redheads have a lower pain threshold than other people I thought he was kidding but I've actually seen that in the news and read about it so now I just blame genetics instead of admitting I'm a wuss! :)

I also have one on my inner arm right above the elbow and one on each hip and neither hurt as bad as my wrist.

I am getting mine on April 5th on my inner wrist. My other tattoos were no problem at all. Please be sure to follow the tattooist instructions on the aftercare. Tattoos are wounds so you do have to take care of it because they can get infected if not taken care of properly. They can get itchy just like any scab that you get. Just pat away. It drove me crazy not being able to pat my own back when mine were healing on my back.

thanks everyone!

as for tattoos, i'm a scientist and hoping to go into a science/art aspect (i'm want to be a scientific graphic designer). the next 5 years of my life will be spent in graduate school, so that's nothing for me to worry about and i think that even if i went into a laboratory setting, i would not have to worry about a no visual tattoos rule. i'll check up on that though.

i've been interested in getting a tattoo for quite a while now, but never knew what to get. i really want to get something that means a lot to me and my sister really does, so that's why i'm going for something that has a close meaning to the both of us.

i really want it to be as small as they can possibly make it. i'm not into big anything really. haha. (i hate big earrings, rings, bracelets, necklaces). i liked the idea of the inner wrist, because i can cover it with a watch and nobody will be able to see it. i also wouldn't know where to get it otherwise. i was also thinking my foot, possibly.

thanks for all the advice about what to do about the healing process. how long does it take to heal completely? and did the inner wrist bleed a lot? i'm just worried about infections, since it's such an open area and comes in contact with everything.
