If you using Disney busses just make sure to be in the correct line, and visible. They have to load ECV's and wheelchairs first for safety reasons, so if it doesn't look like the bus driver is going to open the back door or come to the back of the bus to load you, make sure to have your hubby go up to the bus driver and let them know.
I would not try to leave the park right at closing either, look through the shops, take in the views, slowly walk out because there are only so many accessible spots on the bus and sometimes there could be a long wait at closing, after Spectro or Wishes etc.
Bill and I always take our time leaving Epcot after Illuminations, we sit and wait for the crowds to clear out and then walk slowly from the World Showcase, it is wonderful to walk out without the crowds and hear all the background music, ahhh I can't wait to be back.
This is all so good to know - excellent advice! Is there usually a CM there to say where the ECV should go in line? Or it it labeled? I've never noticed.
We love to take our time leaving too-it's so peaceful and beautiful. I'll never forget leaving after Illuminations on our Disneymoon, we walked slowly-hand in hand and then came upon the fountain and it was all lit up and dancing to the music-we stood there in awe. SO beautiful!!!!
Aww Brook-you do sound a bit sad about your foot but you're also right-you're going to Disney World and its going to be awesome regardless! Just make sure you have your meds to control your discomfort...
Think of the stories you'll have with the ECV-and its sure to make a great trip report too...
Congrats on getting the Wishes Dessert Party-How fun will that be?
Remember you are going back also-just relax, do what you can do and soak up the amazing details and atmosphere-and who knows-you may just notice things at that level that you normally don't...
I am a bit sad/frustrated about it. But trying not to let it get me down! And you are right-I probably will notice new things and learn some new things. It will be a whole different trip!
Getting closer and closer and closer....
I'm sorry to hear of your foot issues and it's not 100%. I do agree, better safe than sorry and who wants to be miserable, right? Especially in the heat! YIKES!
I was contemplating the Wishes Dessert party, however we're already doing the Pirates and Pals Fireworks cruise so I don't need to spend too much $$ watching fireworks all week! It could get a little overkill, ya know?

You'll have to let us know your perspective on it so hopefully next time around we can try it!
I'm so excited for you guys..
Heather
The Pirates & Pals Fireworks cruise sounds AWESOME! I bet that will be a great time! And yep, I will be sure to report back in full detail on the party. I really hope it's something they choose to keep due to it's popularity.
Sorry to hear that your foot is not healing as well as you would like, but I am glad that you are being sensible and going for the
ECV. It will enable you to enjoy your time so much better. And Wishes Dessert Party!!!!
I think so too-Joe and I were talking earlier and he said we should do whatever it takes to make it so I'm not miserable (or making HIM miserable!

). This is the best move for all of us!
My trip was great! I was a little apprehensive about the heat but it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. And we did take much needed afternoon breaks almost every day so that helped a lot. And it really didn't rain much -- most of the time we happened to be inside and then it just blew over. I only wore a poncho once the whole trip and that was for about all of 20 minutes. The October trip is definitely helping the Disney Blues since now I'm just in trip planning mode for that and I love the F&W festival!
I'm staying at Kidani standard view in Oct -- I hear you on the points. Some animal viewing advice. They feed the animals in the morning so they are really not out on the savanna then. It would have been nice to see them when we were getting ready to head out but there only seemed to be a stray ostrich or 2. We saw lots of animals in the afternoon when we came back for our breaks so that seemed to be the best time. There were also animals when we came back at night but it was really too dark to see anything. Another great place is the library area right off the lobby. If you go down the hallway off the right side of the lobby the library is on your left hand side. You can see the animals from there and you can also go outside on the balcony and enjoy one of the rocking chairs while you enjoy the view! This was a neat little relaxing area.
Yay for the Wishes dessert party! We just did this last week and is was really worth it! We had a great table and the view of the fireworks was really good

And Tinkerbell flies right over your head!! Can't beat that. I know there's been some mixed info on viewing of Specto from there -- you can see it but it's pretty far away. We kind of had no choice but to view it from there since our check in time was during Spectro. But it was all good. Oh, and the desserts are fabulous! Everything was fresh and they replenished everything. There was even stuff left after Wishes was over. I had read some reviews where people complained they didn't refresh anything and the desserts were warm or soggy, but we didn't find that to be the case at all. It was so nice not to have to fight to find a place to watch the fireworks. You are going to love it!!
As for the ECV, I think you should just look at it as an adventure. You'll have fun no matter what and you'll be back soon hopefully without it. Better to feel good than to injure your foot further
I'm happy to hear that about the heat! And the rain!
And thank you for the awesome advice on Kidani!

I am thinking in December we'll be doing a lot of afternoon breaks to avoid those crazy crowds - and we'll be enjoying the resort. I'll remember that about the library and the balcony. It sounds just heavenly!
And I'm very excited to hear your great review of the Wishes Dessert Party! I haven't read any reviews, other than that of Kathy from the PodCast here on the DIS - she also loved it. Our check in time is also right at the start of Spectro, but that's OK with me. Joe is SUPER excited about this and thinks its going to be the highlight of our trip, being we don't have to find a curb and keep a toddler entertained for a couple hours, but we'll all be happy, eating and sitting...plus with a great view.

I'm going to try to snag a pic of Tink!
That is good advice about viewing the ECV as an adventure - and yes, we will have fun not matter what!!

Oh my word GB! You are a RIOT! I am pretty partial to #2, "It's a Great Big Bootiful Tomorrow" being that I highly enjoy CoP! I also like "Some Day My Shoe will Come" because that is how I feel some days...
Someday I'll be able to wear two shoes again...

I'm going to have to tell Joe about this-he's gonna have fun with it!!
