Tastiest Restaurant at Universal Studios.

Dinner in USO? Finnegan's would be our choice. However, we think there are a lot of better options in City Walk.
Yeah - I was going to say the exact same thing - but I figured they wanted to eat in the park so they did not have to exit and re-enter.

Lombards did not impress me at all.
Finnegan's - It's pretty decent for pub fare and probably the best in that park

There are just so many better options in Citiwalk - Antojitos or Toothsome are my usual haunts.

Cowfish - I feel like it has really gone downhill - I really enjoyed it when it first opened.
Bigfire - I like the bar - but the food was a disappointment.

We weren't very impressed with Lombards either. It was fine, but nothing to write home about.

I usually do CityWalk or resort restaurants rather than eat dinner in that park.
My favorite in CityWalk is BigFire. I also really enjoy Vivo.
At the Universal resorts, I love BiCE (Portofino) and the Palm (Hard Rock).

Mythos is just ok, nothing special. Citywalk has the better restaurants, Breadbox, BigFire, Cowfish, NBC Grill. The only place we eat at in IOA is the Three Broomsticks or Fire eaters.

Have Mythos booked for IofA. What is in your opinion the best place for dinner in Universal Studios?

Great choice! Haven't been in a few years, but we love Mythos.

On the US side, we lean toward toward the Harry Potter offerings - the Leaky Cauldron and then Florean Fortesque's for butterbeer ice cream!

Vivo in CityWalk is another favorite of ours.

I am a Disney veteran, debating switching to Universal for our Thanksgiving trip. We are not big on the parks ,usually just Epcot but enjoy having a nice dinner every night. What are the nicest at City Works and can they be reserved ahead like Disney.? Do any have live entertainment ?
Thanks

We recently ate at Mythos, Toothsome, and Vivo. They were all fine - I'd eat there again - but nothing stood out at any of them. I love many things about Universal (mostly Express Pass, all the HP stuff) but I think WDW has them beat on dining.

Maybe Finnegans? We plan on mainly CS locations for in park meals. I'm not sure how much sit down we will do? Cowfish looks yummy.

Bigfire was our favorite. We ate in early evening, cool weather so we asked for a table downstairs near the windows, which I think maybe were open. It was perfect. Food was very good, interesting drink concoctions.

You can make reservations ahead of time for any sit-down restaurant. You don't need to reserve way out like Disney.

As for live entrainment, Pat O'Brien's has dueling pianos and an New Orleans theme, Bob Marley - A Tribute to Freedom has a reggae band, and Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville often has a band, too.

Big Fire is great (we do it for a "nice" dinner) but we love Mama Della's at the Portofino (it was closed during our last two trips last year due to Covid but we have reservations for dinner next Thursday so i'm excited). Toothsome is hit or miss for us (love the chocolate bread though) and Cowfish has been great for us as well.

Mythos pre pandemic changed their menu one too many times for my liking. However, it is beautifully designed

vote would be for Lombards based upon the past few years‘ dining If the menu works for you. Again, several of my favorites have disappeared from the menu

Have lost count of times we’ve eaten at finnegans same old classics, sometimes not being surprised is a very good thing :)

Last visit there in July was disappointing as to food quality/presentation. Basically, nothing tasted fresh. food over fried, cobb salad well past it’s prime, everything dried out, even the normally solid reuben was soggy.

Server caught my look and sadly offered up that it was “…just one of those days…”. Indeed. Gave it a pass, no use in complaining, it’s certainly not unusual to run into this these days. Will chalk it up to pandemic staffing issues tableside as well as cooks & give them another chance This fall.

However, i do find it chintzy the soda bread/apple butter is off the new menu & you specifically have to request it.:confused3

Toothsome experience a bit of a bummer. the front house staff was repeatedly very snippy about things in general to multiple guests, before we were even seated. Realize it can be difficult to smile and welcome customers at times, however, that is their job. Poor management IMO. Fake it till you make it. Won’t be back there for awhile, just too many other choices.

opposite experiences at both NBC Grill & Margaritaville that trip Enjoyable meals with pleasant servers who actually seemed happy to be working.

For quick service I have always liked Thunder Falls Terrace at IOA and Louie's at the Studios. I don't do much sit down dining while I'm there.

The stand-outs on our last trip were Mythos, Finnegan's and NBC Grill. We ate at NBC our final day and were bummed we found it so late. They have a large menu and the food and service were wonderful. Our only repeat restaurant was Mythos because we loved it on our first day so cancelled a different reservation later in the week to eat there again. Toothsome, Antijitos and Lombard's were good but Confisco Grill and Cowfish were very disappointing. Both our burgers were ridiculously over-done and dried out at Cowfish (my husband ordered his medium rare and it was very well done) and we felt like we were being rushed out of Confisco and the food was pretty meh. We were sad because we had always had wonderful experiences at Confisco in the past.
