To those who have either, what do you like (and not like) about your brewer?

Thanks in advance!

We have a Keurig and love it. DH's office mate also has one at home and they just got one for their office at work because they like it so much. I like that we can have various types of coffee, tea, hot chocolate on hand and each get what we want. It's simple to use - when we have company, we (actually, the 2 1/2 year old shows them - that's how easy it is) how to use it the night before and they're on their own in the morning. :)

The thing I don't like about it is it's loud. I can hear it all the way down the hall when it brews. I might try putting something under it (like a rubber mat) to see if that helps, but that's my only complain about it.

We have a Keurig...love it! No complaints.

My favorite is the "Caribou" blend.
DH likes the French Vanilla best.

We have the Keurig. I like very strong dark coffee so it is sometimes harder to find cups that I like. So far Green Mountain Dark Magic and Emerils Extra Bold have been my favorite. It is so fast and easy to get that cup of coffee in the morning! That is probably the best thing about it.

We tried the hot cocoa and none of us liked it...too weak, even on the smallest setting and not creamy at all.

We have the Keurig at work which I like because you don't HAVE TO buy the K cups. You can purchase this nifty little "piece" that you can fill with you own ground coffee and brew!!

At home, I own the Tassimo. The reason being that it brews expresso, cappucinos, lattes AND coffee/tea, etc with t-discs. I love being able to drink that stuff at home and its more affordable than Starbucks...

Hope this helps.

I am in LOVE  with my TASSIMO!!! And now that I have found *LOW FAT* cappucinno I LOVE it even more! I like that I can have whatever I'm in the mood for at the time; cappucinno, latte, coffee, tea, hot chocolate...I have evn figured out how to make my own Mocha!

Keurig also has a nifty little "piece" so that you don't have to purchase the K cups. They sell it at Target & BB&B for about $15.00.

I was hoping you guys would talk me out of a Keurig. ;) I have wanted one for about 2 years now, ever since we stayed at Hard Rock Hotel and they had one in the room. I loved it, but they were too pricey for me..plus we already had a coffee maker that makes a whole pot! (this is what I hear DH saying inside my head!) But I have been wanting one-I even took home the extra pods from our last stay at Royal Pacific.

Well......................the small ones are $79 now at Target, and the large ones with the water reservoir are $99 at Walmart with a $10 gift card. I may have to buy myself a nice Mother's Day present..

that's exactly what i was thinking - a mother's day present! :)

I can't tell you how much we love our Keurig. I wouldn't part with it ever. No more coffee grounds to dispose of! No more instant coffee bc I wouldn't make a fresh pot for just me. Everyone gets what they want, and I don't have to clean up. I haven't used my tea kettle in ages. It's great for making instant cup of soup too. I bought mine at BB&B with a coupon. Best present I ever bought myself. If you do purchase, there are a number of places online to order pods. BJ's also has them (although limited in variety).

I have the big one for about 18 months now and LOVE it. I use it almost every day--perfect for SAHM who are home alot and don't want to make a pot of coffee just for one person.

Check QVC. They have the small Keurig for less than $80 (plus shipping) but it comes with 18 K-cups and the My K-Cup filter that people mentioned above. Those two things alone would probably cost about $25 elsewhere...

I have the Keurig and love it. I like it for coffee, but also for the teas.
My favorite is celestial seasonings India chai spice tea--yummy. :thumbsup2

Ugh, I just wrote this nice long reply and it dissappeared :confused3

Here goes again:

Have the Keurig. Love it. Got it from craigslist in "like new" condition. Paid $60 for the $200 model. :yay:
Amazon has frequent sales on the kcups. If you use auto delivery option, price drops further. You can cancel auto delivery anytime even right after your first order.

Read online about adapter, haven't tried it but also read how to re-use the
kcups and I have done that. There is also a tassimo pod adapter you can buy on ebay that allows you to use those pods (lots of variety including starbucks).

For the hot cocoa, someone said is weak, just open the foil top and pour in remaining powder. Solves the weak problem perfectly.

HTH!

I have both the Keurig & the Tassimo. I love both of them.

The Keurig makes excellent coffee. I'm not crazy about the teas but then I usually brew that by the pot anyway. What I love about the Keurig it's that is a fresh cup of consistently good coffee every time. Coffee that hasn't been sitting aroung, getting scorched or getting too hot. I don't have to waste time & coffee brewing a whole pot when I just want a cup. And since my husband prefers a stronger cup than I do we can each get exactly what we want.

I can't part with my Tassimo. While I was never crazy about any of the coffees I simply love the ability to make a latte or cappuccino in seconds, with no though involved. This machine literally saved what was left of my sanity during our house renovation when we were all living in the LR with 3 walls and a tarp, grilling our meals on the front lawn. I could sit on the bed in the middle of the LR while nail guns shook the house & gypsum dust rained down & enjoy a cappuccino as if I didn't have a care in the world :rotfl:.

The Tassiom hot chocolate is much sweeter and can be taken to a whole other level by putting an Andes minto or chocolate kiss in the bottom of the cup before brewing the chocolate into it . But I like the K cup chocolate too as it's not at all sweet & will satisfy a chocolate craving at about 60 calories ;). Both the Keurig (caribou?) and the Tassimo (milka) have other chocolates avialable but I haven't tried them yet.

So if it's all about the straight coffee I'd say go for a K cup. If you prefer your easy lattes & cappuccinos go for the Tassimo.

Tassimo also has a chai latte available but the chai is sweetened with artificial sweetener (which I loathe..seriously, why couldn't they just let us sweeten it ourselves with whatever). I find it so cloyingly sweet as to be undrinkable.

I hope that this helps :).

Thanks for that. I've been waffling on buying the Keurig. DH doesn't mind day old coffee but I lothe it. I also would love the hot chocolate, so the kids could make it themselves.. We aren't big coffee drinkers, but usually increase in the winter

I love our Keurig. The k cups are very good, but I really use the filter cup and use my own coffee. Much more economical. So glad we bought it, never had a bad cup of anything yet!

Please be warned....I have yet to hear of anyone who likes the hot chocolate K cups. Tastes nothing like hot chocolate...it is VERY weak! You would be better off using one packet of Swiss Miss & dividing it among 5 mugs of hot water.

I love the Senseo that uses the pods, b/c you can actually make your own pods and save a ton of money.

Those K-cups are awesome, but definitely very pricey!

We bought our Keurig last month and LOVE it! We got our Keurig B-66 (their version of the B-60) from Costco for $119.00 but it comes with 90 k-cups AND the reusable k-cup filter so that you can make your own k-cups. Well worth the extra money once you factor in the extra k-cups and reusable filter. Sam's also offers a Keurig that comes with 90 k-cups but theirs comes with a water filter instead of the reusable k-cup filter - same price.
