Day16

We rose about 8.30 and DH made the trek to the Mara for drinks and breakfast, (another muffin for me, chocolate twist for himself and a danish for DD)

Then it was off to MGM. Had a few things that we missed on our previous visit, the parade, the Osborne Lights as well as an ADR for Sci-fi diner at 5.15. We started off with the Lights, Motor Action stunt show :moped: , this was a first for me (DH watched it last year) and I didn't think I would enjoy it but its a fantastic show.

After catching a few characters we went over for the Narnia Exhibition. We had to wait around 20 minutes to get in but it was a nice sunny day so we didn't mind the wait. Once inside you get a pre-show which wasn't upto much before you walked through the wardrobe into an area filled with really naff fake snow and an even more dodgy looking light from the movie, after a few clips from the movie, the White Witch appears :scared1: , albeit a long way away,

so we think great its starting, Whats next Aslan? Mr and Mrs Beaver? Mr Timmins? no they open the door and turf you back outside. What a total waste of time. its obviously a space filler for Disney until they can come up with something better and doesn't do the movie justice.

I went to get a spot for the parade as DD and DH went to the Magic of Animation. For once I had a guaranteed place where no- one could get in front and a seat as well. The wait for the Animation walk through was too long so they came back and we settled down for an hour of people watching :thumbsup2 .

I felt sorry for the CM’s that were walking by, they were continually being accosted by a pair of grown ups to swap pins. (obviously looking for something in particular, but where are peoples manners, no please or thank-you)

After the parade which was upto the usual high standards we walked over to watch the Cars interaction. What a fiasco.

Basically Lightning McQueen and Mater drive out and when they have parked up the CM announces that it is a free-for-all. No way would you be able to get a picture of your child and the car without a few more un-familiar faces as well. The young boy next to us had waited patiently for 40 minutes to meet his hero Lightning McQueen and because his Mum couldn't run quick enough he didn't get the photo he wanted.

Then it was off for dinner at the Sci-fi diner. The restaurant was very busy, you could cut the amount of time you wait if you are prepared to sit in a different type of seat than the one you are guaranteed. We decided to wait for a car and we were seated in about 10 minutes.

Whilst the food was ok I would not eat here again. Never even thought about it being set out as a drive-through movie but I like to see what I am eating. Myself and DD were in the front seat, DH sat behind on his own and we even had two Japanese Hitchikers in the back. You could just about see the food if you moved your plate under the strip light on the table.

The old B movies on the screen were brilliant and brought back memories for DH who used to think these were scarey when he was a child :rotfl2: .

When we came out it was raining a little bit, not the usual Florida rain so we headed for the Osborne Lights. Most of the lights were switched on but the announcement came that they would not be dancing tonight. A disappointment but we still have a few days before we go home, so we will try and catch them again, so it was off back to the hotel and another trek for DH to get drinks (Didn't tell him this till he got to the room, well it should keep him fit)

I agree about sci-fi. I enjoyed the setting but won't be rushing back :)

I was lucky enough to get Lightening on my own last year :goodvibes

:yay:

They could do with a few more lights but not too many or it would spoil the idea.

A lovely day, Mandy. What a shame that there isn't a more organised system of getting photos with the cars. I love the setting of the Sci-Fi so much, but unfortunately, the food has really gone downhill.

Thanks for a great trip report
