Target Redcard 5% discount on Disney gift cards???

Has anyone done this RECENTLY? I found a post via Googling where someone said they did this but it was from a couple of years ago. I was always under the impression the 5% excluded all giftcards. But on the website the fine print says it excludes TARGET gift cards and prepaid cards. A Disney giftcard would not be in those categories. Is this true that the 5% off will come off a Disney gift card?

If so then I could buy them slowly throughout the year to pay my DVC dues next year! I could save $125 that way!

Also, when we go next month I planned on going to the ticket booth in downtown Disney and upgrading out ticket to an annual pass, I could save $42 on the remaining balance of this if I could pay with Disney giftcards from Target! (assuming I can pay with giftcards there for this which I am sure I could?)

Lots of recent reports that this is not working for anyone. They are out of stock online, so perhaps check in the store to see if it's still working.

As in yesterday? I tried all day yesterday and they were out of stock. I've tried purchasing Southwest gift cards and I am not getting the 5% off with the Target Red Card as my default payment. Worked for me about 10 days ago but it's not working as of yesterday morning for me.

It might have been Thursday night but I bought one Disney Gift Card with my redcard discount and it worked for me no problem. Let me check on my order real fast.

Okay, I got to the bottom of this guys! Disney gift cards at Target are considered "entertainment cards" and different from other gift cards and therefore you can use the 5% discount on it! Not on ALL gift cards though and I am not sure what else falls into the "entertainment" category but who cares, it works on Disney cards!! WOOHOO! Anyone know if I can use these to pay for my annual pass at the ticket center in Downtown Disney? My guess is yes!

It seems like the 5% is still valid in-store, but it doesn't seem to be working online. I ordered Starbucks and Rainforest Cafe gift cards online on March 20 and received the 5% Red Card discount, but haven't been able to get the discount online for any gift cards starting Friday morning.

If you have a Target card already, that's worth looking into, but you would save more money over the long-haul getting the Disney Visa and using that for everything and paying it off frequently. We got it a couple of months ago and started doing that and have $81 already!

Are they doing away with some GC discounts?? I lost a savings of $20 for my WDW flights. Going to call Target tomorrow but not sure if they could help me now since the transaction is final. Ugh disappointed. I hope they don't get away the discounted Disney GC's!

What did Target say about not receiving the 5% off on the SWA gift cards when you called them today?

After a long hold while she checked with her supervisor she told me there are no discounts for specialty gift cards. I mentioned my previous purchase from 2 weeks ago and she was able to confirm I got the discount then so I will be getting a $20 credit. Yet no factual answer as to why they are no longer offering the 5% off. I am hoping this is just a system glitch. Still need to buy a few more SWA cards.
