After my son-in-law paid $40 extra for their guaranteed 2 day delivery - last week - so it would be here before Christmas..

The package contained gifts for his boss and his wife; his parents; and his DD.. Needless to say when the package hadn't arrived by Saturday, he was furious and said he will not be shopping there again next year.. He is also going to demand a refund of the additional charge because they did not deliver as promised..

If it were just scheduled for a regular delivery, that would be one thing - but to promise - and charge $40 extra for a 2-day delivery - and then not provide it - is totally unacceptable..

Of course I'm sure there are other stores that pull the same sort of thing.. They wait until you have completed your order - they've put a hold on your CC - and then a few days later they email you to say the items won't be available - or shipped - until after Dec.25th..:sad2:

I got lucky.. Ordered several things on-line from Walmart last week - received one package within 2 days - and the other on Saturday.. (Had a problem with Borders and ended up cancelling my order that added up to a considerable amount and went on-line with Walmart instead.. )

Anyone else get "promised" packages afterChristmas? If I were my son-in-law, I not only would insist on being reimbursed the $40, but I'd return the merchandise for a refund as well..

Last year, I ordered some gifts for DH's nephews from National Geographic online. I ordered on the last day for guaranteed standard shipping by Christmas - maybe the second to last day, I don't remember.

Anyway, I got a confirmation email and everything, so assumed everything was all set.

Then a day or so AFTER Christmas, I got a letter in the mail, dated several days after I had placed the order. The letter stated that the items I had ordered were out of stock - but not to worry because my credit card had not been charged! I was really ticked at this - for one thing, the website let me order items they didn't have, and then I found out AFTER Christmas was over that the items had never been shipped. I was also ticked because they sent me a letter, when I had ordered the things online - wouldn't you think they would send me an email? If they had sent me an email, or called, the day that the letter was dated, I could have run out and purchased something and shipped it myself. At least I would have KNOWN...

Normally when I order things online I track it, etc., but last year we were all sick and traveling, so I just didn't that time. Grrr...

I'm not entirely sure where Target ships from, but it's quite possible some of their shipments got stuck either in Colorado, or 'behind' Colorado from the blizzard they had last week.

I know it's totally frustrating, and I think requesting the refund on the extra charge for expedited shipping is reasonable.

It was shipped from their Delaware location..:sad2:

I ordered DH something from LL Bean last Tuesday. It had guaranteed shipping at regular cost until Thursday at Noon. The item didn't ship until late Wednesday and then at first it had a one day delivery time, then delivery on the 23rd and then delivery on the 27th. I was soooo upset. I emailed Customer Service on Thursday and at first received a VERY LAME reply saying that delivery was scheduled for the 27th and that the Christmas delivery was not guaranteed. I wrote back saying what was on the website and how I was disappointed. I received another email back saying another of the item would be shipped and delivered by Saturday along with a return label for the original item. And yep it made it here by Saturday. I still love LL Bean. :cloud9: Sorry to hear these other stories. I would definitely be writing emails or letters saying how disappointed I was with the service.

Still waiting for 2 packages.

Purchased with 2 day air (UPS) on the 17th. Supposed to be guaranteed delivery on the 19th.

Now I am in Colorado, so I knew not to expect the 19th with the blizzard. But since USPS, FedEx AND DHL were all working overtime (including Christmas Eve and Christmas) to get the stuff delivered before the 24th, I expected the same from UPS. In fact, USPS, FedEx and DHL were pretty much all caught up on package deliveries by late the 24th.

But UPS - nope - they shut down operations at 5:00pm on the 22nd and didn't resume till yesterday.

My packages that were all shipped via USPS, FedEx or DHL all made it before Christmas.

The two packages from UPS have been sitting in Denver since 12/21, but as of today according to customer service - they are still on one of 200 trucks that still have to be unloaded.

So, anybody who had packages shipped before Christmas that were shipped via Commerce City, CO, - as of 1:30pm MST today (12/27) - Per UPS - they are still sitting on trucks waiting to be unloaded with no time frame of when they might be unloaded, let alone delivered or shipped to their next destination.

I wouldn't blame Target, unless it didn't leave their warehouse until after Christmas. It is probably the shipper's fault.

Slightly OT. I haven't had the problem with anything being delivered after Christmas.

We did have a problem with Walmart last year when we ordered DS a Pooh table and chair set online for Christmas. Instead of the table and chair set being shipped, they sent us a crib mattress :confused3. Don't know what the person in shipping was smoking or drinking that day. Thankfully, I checked out the box with enough time before Christmas so we were able to get it resolved (that in-itself was almost another issue to have to deal with).

Last year I was a bit upset :scared: . This year I can look back and laugh at it.

It was shipped well beyond the 2-day delivery guarantee (at an extra charge of $40) so it would be here by Christmas, so yes - I would blame Target - and so does my son-in-law..

UPS was worse than usual this year. My packages were shipped UPS 3 day from Washington state to Northern California on 12/19 and STILL are not here! :sad2:

I have had a terrible time with LL Bean a couple of years now. I ordered winter coats for my kids, and it took many phone calls and emails to get them delivered. I was not happy. Last year I ordered a balsam tree for my Dad, and it was almost 2 weeks late. Dad said it needed a good drink of water, and it was o.k., but it did not arrive until a couple of days before Christmas. I wonder if LL Bean is just getting too big.

One package from Barnes and Noble didnt make it in time. I ordered it last Monday, with 3 day shipping. I felt it should be here my Thursday. I tracked it on line. It showed UPS got the billing on Tuesday, but no package. I called on Thursday to find out what was going on. I was told not to be alarmed. I told her I most certainly was alarmed! She said it would be here on Friday, and if not then they would help me, but would do NOTHING on Thursday. Had she done something at that point, they could have sent it overnight.

Friday, still no package (big surprise, NOT.) I checked tracking, they sent it late on Thursday. Yep, I was right, they COULD have done something. But, instead I just had to wait for it to come on Tuesday. Thankfully, they were not that important of gifts.

I ordered something from a place in Wisconsin on the 22nd of November. I have no clue what they did with my order after confirming it because their site was have problems & I couldn't get through by phone. Finally on the 7th I was told it had just been shipped. Yeah right. When I finally got the tracking info it was never called in to UPS for pick up until the 12th.

It arrived outside Philadelphia at 6:02am on the 15th. Not too bad to get that far, but then it sat there! It finally arrived on the 22nd at 6pm. I'd say that maybe they were swamped, except DH had ordered something from CA at 4:55pm on the 15th that UPS delivered at noon on the 16th.
