Target Lovers...When Should I Go For New Sales?

Hi all! I'm a big Target shopper and I especially love going shopping after Halloween. I want to get some candy and possibly costumes for my kids to play dress up with. Can someone tell me when the best day would be to go? I know the longer you wait, the better the sale will probably be, but I also don't want to miss out on the good stuff. What are your thoughts?

Q. When does Target mark down products?

A. Target has a national markdown schedule. Watch the end caps of aisles for marked down, clearance, and discounted items. Mark downs take place every two weeks and items will continue to be marked down every two weeks until sold or reaches 75%. Target rarely marks non-holiday items lower than 75%.

Tuesday: Domestics, Women's Clothing, Pets, & Grocery

Wednesday: Men's Clothing, Toys, Health & Beauty, Lawn & Garden

Thursday: Housewares, Lingerie, Shoes, Sporting Goods, Movies, Music, Books, Decor, & Luggage

Friday: Auto, Cosmetics, Hardware, & Jewelry

Holiday are as follows (Christmas markdowns vary):


Post Holiday Day 1-3: 50% off

Post Holiday Day 4-6: 75% off

Post Holiday Day 7-8: 90% off

Remember, others are thinking the same way you are - stock up now for next year. So I wouldn't wait too long. I'd get what you want for 50% off, because paying 50% is better than paying 100% next year.

Food for thought - if it's within 90 days, can you still take it back and re-purchase it or get a price adjustment on it? I don't know their policy on that.

We went today, and all Halloween stuff is 50% off. That includes candy, decor, and costumes. At my Target, many people were scooping up candy and decor stuff. I got tons of lawn decor...next Halloween our front yard will be awesome!

I personally wouldn't wait too long. Depends on your local Target store. Mine here in Denver, CO, there were already tons of people taking advantage of the 50% off. I doubt there would be much left by the time it's reduced to 75% off.

I think for things like nice decorations and costumes, you should go ASAP. It was 50% off today and there was a great selection. In a few days it may be cheaper, but the pickings will be slim. Candy was only 30% off today- I tend to wait on cheaper things like candy, smaller decorations, etc because they don't go as fast, which means they get cheaper.

I went to 2 Targets this morning, everything but candy was marked 50% off, candy was only 30% off. That's the way it was last year too. There was TONS of candy left so I'll wait a while for it, except for the one bag of Jr Mints, those never last long.

I went this morning because I was really on the lookout for the Merida costume. My Target still had quite a bit left but there were a lot of people there grabbing stuff. Candy was 30% off and 50% off everything else. After doing a lot of searching through a very messy costume area, I found the Merida dress! yay! I got a few more things, but I'm hoping there will still be some decor things left at 75% off. I wouldn't mind getting a few pillows but if I don't it's not a make or break kind of thing.

My husband went last night and they already had their candy marked down 70% at our Target. It was definitely nice to get cheap Halloween candy.

Our Targets had candy at only 30% off and costumes, decorations, etc 50% opff today. I got a bunch of Halloween plates, cups and napkins for 50% off! I love those! And, be sure to check other areas of the store for Halloween stuff. My Target had the Halloween paper products with the regular paper products instead of in the Halloween area. Tricky!

Our candy goes 30% off first, then after a week it goes to 50%. I'm planning on swinging by to see what's left but I'm going to the Spirit store first. There are a few things I'm actually looking for so I'm hoping they have them left still, it's hard to work the day after Halloween, Halloween is our favorite holiday so we always shop for sale stuff after.

Ours had candy at 30% also, all the other halloween stuff was 50%. The only things I grabbed were a new set of green/purple lights and I cleared out the Halloween Kraft mac and cheese because my teen son likes the Kraft stuff.

Our Targets have changed. All candy and food items are 30% and usually are sold out by the 50% markdown. They also don't do the 75% but rather 70%.

I went yesterday and things were 30%-50% off. Today I went and nonfood items were 70% off. When has this happened? Oh wait, NEVER. Maybe they want to get rid of it, because the Christmas stock is closing in on the two full aisles of remaining Halloween.
