Target Discontinued Online Purchase of $100 DGCs?

I've been buying these for our future cruises. It's super annoying that they have taken the $100 cards away from online purchases, since I have to buy double the $50 cards, now. Does anyone know when this started? Between taking away the ability to combine Target gift cards, limiting the usage of them per purchase, etc.. It's just getting kind of frustrating. Does anyone know if this is just a temporary thing, or if this is their new setup?

I suspect they finally got wise, or got tired of people gaming the system.

I see it as them trying to make things be more even/fair across the board.

I do know, in the past, there were times that gift cards would be out of stock. Maybe they're just out of stock right now.

Really?? I just bought a whole bunch of these the other day and they shipped them out just fine. Maybe they are out of stock?

I do know what you mean by that, PrincessShmoo, but I don't really consider what I do trying to manipulate the system or mess them out of something; I should be able to go to a store, and use my gift cards and still get a 5% discount, regardless of where the gift cards come from. Considering how much Target makes annually, especially off of me considering it's one of the only places I shop, I just don't think it would really hurt much to allow for this kind of thing.

Ok just went on and it looks like they are only in store and they are now limiting the $50 Disney GCs to 4 per order... hmmmmm. I literally just ordered 20 $100 disney gc's last week.

Maybe try the online chat feature and see if you can get them to push the order through manually. {One time they did that for me }

It's actually technically costing them more money, now, because I have to make several different shipment orders.. But whatever they wanna do! I'll figure it out. Thanks for the responses!

I also wanted to add as a semi-update, they have cancelled both of my $50x2 orders-- Upon inquiring as to why my orders keep getting cancelled, they told me that a new policy has gone into effect and I can no longer use Target gift cards for Disney gift cards, anywhere. Can anyone else confirm this? I know sometimes they don't know what they are talking about, but I've had two different reps say this to me now, as of the last 30m. I did a search on here and found a few other people had a similar issue. Is it hit or miss as of this week?

It apparently was put out on 8/4 that this would take effect. It seems it actually took effect in the last couple of days. Even to the point that you can't use Target gift cards (regardless of where purchased) to purchase Disney gift cards in store, not just online.

I bought 150.00 in Disney gift cards last week ( I think Thursday) and used the Target gift cards I bought online via Cardpool. I put them in my Target. com account and they scanned them right thru with no problem.
I also bought $ 150.00 (again via Cardpool and spent them on Target.com last week (with free shipping) and they arrived as usual with no problem today.

I am pretty well done for now as I tend to use the gift card on board and at the theme parks. Perhaps I will give it another try this evening and see if they let it go thru. If not, no big deal, it is not like I buy thousands of dollars anyway. I am a lightweight compared to many folks I have seen that but enough to pay for their entire cruise.

I don't know if our store just hasn't caught up yet or if the self-checkout systems aren't with it, but no one complained or tried to stop me upon using my gift cards. Unfortunately, the red card can't be combined in store (I didn't even try because I've heard enough stories to know better), but I'm just glad I didn't get stuck with $300 of unusable cards (we don't shop at Target a whole lot outside of the cards..)
