Can any one please give me information about the taping of the Christmas Parade that takes place in Mk the first week of Dec.

We will be there that week and i am not sure this is a good idea to take my kids to see the taping. They would love to see a couple of stars.
Is it worth it or just a waste of valuable Disney time?
Does anyone get to see the taping or do you have to be specially invited?

Where do i get more info about the taping?

Most of the time the taping of the xmas parade is done a week or two before xmas. So if you will be there the week of xmas you will miss the taping.

It is historically taped the first weekend of Dec. I sat on the curb with my DH 2 years ago to watch the taping....7hrs....we had fun but I don't think my kids would have enjoyed it ...actually we didn't even attempt to try it with the kids (13, 12,11,7) this past year..

It is a long process and the stars are only there for small sections...

It is usually done the first weekend in Dec. You are always welcome to join in the crowd when taping is being done. It is a lot of standing around waiting. They don't do the whole parade but maybe one float comes down and they do quite a few takes, then another float, or a performer and they do several takes of that. Sat. and Sun seems to have more performers than floats but the Main St. area gets very crowded.

They put out a casting call for volunteers to participate. Days start at 7 AM. They like you to be dressed in Disney holiday clothing. They make sure to position those people up front. I had a great time but I was prepared for the long periods where you did nothing but stand or sit while the crews positioned equipment, a float was brought into position.

If you haven't been to WDW in awhile I wouldn't waste valuable park time participating in the crowd for the parade. Just be prepared on the weekend for large crowds trying to squeeze down the sidewalks and plan accordingly.
