Tape allowed on door for decoration?

I got some lights for the door. Tape seems like the easiest way to put them up. Is that allowed? Or better idea? They are LED string lights

No, you cannot use any adhesive either on your door or inside your cabin. It would risk damaging the paint. You are only allowed to hang things using magnets.

Perhaps look for some magnetic hooks, which can then hold the lights? I assume the lights are battery powered and of a type that are allowed on board? I recall reading not too long ago something about there were changes to the policy regarding string lights, but I don’t remember all the details.

The list of prohibited items on the DCL website says ”Seasonal and/or strands of celebratory lightbulbs” are not allowed. I recall that discussion and the consensus was that meant plug in lights. Many people said they brought battery operated lights and they weren't confiscated.

Just got off the wish 2 days ago and everyone had tape on their door but I also seen people use magnet hooks

Certainly people do use tape, those who don't check out whether it's allowed or not. And any damage done by tape will be added to their onboard account.

I’m sure I’ll get some hate for saying this. Please don’t use tape. We love these ships and we need to be good stewards of them! I know you aren’t out to purposefully disfigure anything, but they wouldn’t have it in the rules if it has not happened. Also, I implore you to think about what bringing battery operated lights can mean to a floating tin can (albeit a very nice floating tin can, but floating in the middle of the ocean nonetheless). There are already so many things on the ship that bring the hazard of fire, are we sure we want to add to it?

Please don’t crucify me for saying this. I am not anti door decor. I love putting our magnets up - and I’m not trying to start that debate here! I just think it is worth thinking about.

I'm not crucifying you, just having an honest discussion. I see what you're saying about battery operated lights, but the risk of fire there is pretty low (no, not nonexistent). I honestly think curling irons and hair straighteners pose a bigger risk, and they are allowed. I do agree there needs to be a balance between fun/enjoyment and safety, and to me the benefit outweighs the risk for battery-operated lights (please note I've never personally used them, but have also never been 'worried' about them being a fire hazard).

I have used them....and left them outdoors for the entire winter, covered in snow and ice, and I think only removed them when the landscapers came to trim the bushes the following summer .

But mine were battery hogs, I think they used like 4 or 6 D batteries. Maybe the tech has changed in the past 7ish years, but I'm not sure where the battery compartment would go if one was to hang them on the door.

I 100% agree about the curling iron and hair straighteners! I use neither of them and don't even use the hair dryer! I don’t even use them at home! Lol. I’m a double french braid, straw hat and go gal! Haha. And I will admit, I’m a little neurotic and even leaving my cat at home alone gives me anxiety because I have most likely an irrational fear about something causing a house fire with him inside. I guess I’m just a little overly cautious about things. But like I said, I’m not anti door decor! And I know there are other more hazardous things onboard.
