Tangierine Cafe?

We have eaten at the Tangierine Cafe many many times and always order the chicken shawarma, sandwich only. It is very good. We ate there again a few weeks ago and I have to say that the only thing that surprised me was the price! That sandwich was $10 and you get nothing with it - just the sandwich. I have never ever complained about the food prices in Disney. I have been so many times I have lost count. I have went 3 times between 06 & 07 and am planning another trip for December!! We eat every meal on site. I don't know if I was just in a weird mood that day or what, but when I looked at the menu board the price of the sandwich - I think it was $9.95 - just stuck out to me!! It's got to be one of the only places where you don't get a side choice. My son ordered one of the platters and that was way more worth the money. He said it was very good.

We ate here our last trip. We got the combo platter but next time I will just get the lamb. I didn't care for the chicken. I liked the hummus with my bread but thought the couscous and tabouleh tasted better when mixed together. We enjoyed the food here overall, it was something different and would eat there again. They have a meatball platter I've seen pictured here that looks really good!:thumbsup2

THANKS FOR THE PICTURE, SIMBA'S MOM! :thumbsup2

In May, DH got fries with his sandwhich with no additional charge

I wanted fries with my shawarma, but I had to order them separately. I don't ever remember fries coming with the sandwich in the past. We had 3 chicken shawarmas (sandwich only), 1 combo plate, 1 order of fries and 2 regular drinks - for a grand total of $49 and some change!! Like I posted above, I don't know if it was just me that day or what, but that seemed like an expensive meal for what we got!! We ate lunch every day at table service restaurants and our bill for the 4 of us averaged around $80-$85, including tip, for what I thought was better food and obviously having table service. We all talked about how it really was not that much more to eat at better restaurants - at least for lunch. Dinners at TS restaurants would obviously be a good deal more.

The meatball platter is yummy, going back for more in September. You definitely don't walk away hungry!

My DW and I have often shared the chicken schwarma sandwich and sometimes the combo platters. She really likes the hummus, couscous and tobouleh. I think that the tziki (sp?) sauce (yogurt/cucumber) reallly makes the sandwich. :goodvibes

We enjoy dining outside while watching Mo' Rockin' perform!

If you are unsure of anything dont be scared off, we love the rotisserie chicken and meatball platters...DELICIOUS!

I've got a couple of photos too. Chicken wrap and lamb platter:

This is the BEST. We eat here twice on our 10 day stay.

We tried their TS (Markaresh - sp?) and it was not nearly as good. We did enjoy the bellydancer, though.

Does anyone have the recipes for how they cook their chicken/lamb? I can get the tabuoleh, couscous, and hummus at the store.

Thanks

I am not sure you could do this at home, but the lamb and chicken are cooked on a rotisserie while rotating on a spit. However, the meat appears to be processed into a roll somehow before it is cooked in this way. They slice of pieces from these rolls to order. My description doesn't sound good, but the final result is very tasty as you know. :goodvibes

Not a huge chick pea fan, but I'm willing to try! ;)

I recently went out for lunch with my mother and had to twist her arm to split a hummus apetizer. She insisted she wouldn't like it because she can't stand chick peas. Well, she loved it, and now she buys it at the supermarkets and is actually experimenting with different brands to see which ones she likes best.

It's very refreshing, and it's actually quite good for you!

You might check out the recipes here: http://www.allearsnet.com/din/rec.htm

I see some meat recipes from the TS in Morocco.

I also like this site for their broad variety of ethnic recipes: www.recipesourse.com

They don't have too many listed under Moroccoan, but you might try the Greek category too, as I'm under the impression that the two cultures use alot of the same types of seasonings & spices(I could be wrong).

Like many others, TC is one of my favoriet counter service restaurants. I will say, however, that I wasn't impressed with the meatball platter at all. Everything else I have tried there, which is practically every other offering, has been wonderful.
