I have a 7 year old, 4 ft tall, 60 lbs, who uses a special needs wheelchair (convaid) for longer distances, mostly places like the mall or the local amusement park,or when she is recovering from a respiratory illness. I may be adopting a one year old, and am trying to figure out a way to transport them both. My daughter is too big for all the double or tandem strollers I've seen. I came across tandem connectors that allow you to connect 2 wheelchairs, 2 strollers, or a wheelchair and stroller. They resemble the connectors for 2 umbrella strollers, but more heavy duty. Has anyone used these? How sturdy are they? How difficult too push, fit through doors, around corners, etc? is the side by side model or the front to back model better? Would Disney allow them to be used (it would be pretty big, definitely too big for lines). Does anyone know a better option? I have seen some nice wagons that look practical, anybody use those? Am I correct that Disney doesn't allow wagons? Looking for suggestions for everyday use, as well as advice on getting through an amusement park.

Disney doesn't allow wagons or anything that is pulled behind.

Would you be able to use a baby carrier on the one year old? Would a sit and sand stroller work for the 7 year old or does she need a specific chair? The sit and stands are usually nice because the baby can be in the stroller and then an older child can sit or stand at the back.

I have seen connectors that put two umbrella strollers side-by-side, but I haven't seen the particular item you mention. The concern I see is that it's too wide (side-by-side) or too long (front-to-back) to be allowed as a mobility device. If too wide for the queues it most likely is too wide for any doorways as well. Correct that wagons are not allowed at the parks, nothing that is pulled.

Hopefully someone else may have personal experience with the connectors.

As the mother of special needs twins I am very interested in this idea/equipment. Good luck getting answers.

1) I have seen "tandem" side-by-side wheel chairs being disconnected.
2) They are simply too wide for the crowds.
3) It is like taking a bulldozer through the roads and sidewalks.
4) Very unsafe for the other guests.

NOTE: I have seen two wheelchairs connected one-behind-the-other with bracing. Do not know if they had to be separated, because they would not be able to negotiate most f the line queues.

Have you looked into a Wiki Stroller? They fit bigger kids and littles. They are designed for use as a bike accessory or jogger but I've seen them in the parks before. Their max height is 52 inches and max weight capacity is 100 lbs. Sounds like that might work for you.

You can see it as the stroller option in the photos here http://www.wicycle.com/index.php/products/child-trailers/wike-softie-bicycle-trailer/
it may be too big. There are size limits on strollers as well as other equipment. and if you use the buses they have to fold.

I read it is fine. The dimensions as per Disney are must be no bigger than 36x52. With the standard stroller wheel these are usually 40 inches. I think the 60 is with the bike hook up but I could be wrong. Worth taking a look though to see which one is the case. The width is 33 so it is fine there.

Unless your one year old is disabled, you wouldn't be allowed to take his/her stroller into the queues? Although I guess they let double strollers in if one of the children is disabled? (That's with the stroller as wheelchair tag)

That is for strollers in general for walking around in the parks.

Standard size for wheelchairs is no wider than 32 inches and no longer than 48 inches. Even the park rental ECVs that look huge fall into the size.
Anything bigger than that or not able to turn within its own length will not fit well in lines.
Definitely need to be aware of that if you are planning to use stroller as wheelchair in lines.
You may be able to bring it in some of the wider lines, but probably not the ones which are not considered ECV accessible because it will be too big.

With stroller as wheelchair tag, guests would be able to bring a double in lines - within the size of wheelchair. If it's too big, they would not be able to.

I also have not seen how small that stroller folds up. If it doesn't fold or is too large, it will not be able to be brought on buses.
