Okay guys..here's the situation. Arrive at Sanford Intl, drive US/IoA for a night and a day. Then drive to port, cruise for 4 nights, drive to WDW for 2 nights. Then, over to Tampa....N. Rocky Pt Dr, close to Tampa Intl. Then, from there we head to Sanford. I have mapquested a route but wonder if there might be a shorter way. Any thoughts??? This will be on a Sunday, late morning...actually Easter Sunday morning.

What route did they give you?

Ummm...Rt 4 for 75 miles, then 408, then 417..if that helps any. Looks to be a sizable body of water to be crossed close to Sanford??

I4 to 408 to 417 is how I would have done it when I lived in Florida. The large body of water is Lake Jessup, which I wouldn't worry about. Make sure you have about $4 on you for tolls on 408 and 417.

Thanks for the reminder of the tolls...I am always forgetting them. Looks like that route is going to be it....how is the bridge over Lake Jessup??? I hate bridges..almost as much as I hate pumping my own gas!!!

Its not even 5 minutes, typical FL bridge. You will be over it in no time.

You may want to consider picking up the 417 at I4 just south of Osceola Parkway, I prefer that route to taking the 408. There is never any traffic on 417 while going into Orlando and taking the 408 to 417 can suck.

To me, If I'm going that far up I4, I would just keep going to Lake Mary Blvd and take that over to the airport.

Hmmm, that sounds doable. Wondered about the traffic in Orlando proper on Easter Sunday.

Goofy, I guess you already have your ticket but Allegiant also flies out of St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport. Anyway, you shouldn't have any traffic congestion on Easter morning.

BobK/Orlando

Yep...we're flying DirectAir out of Worcester Mass...got terrific airfares.
I would imagine that traffic shouldn't be too bad that morning. Just obsessing over the future..heck, need to obsess over something!!

Hey Goofy4tink, you were just here a few weeks ago, you're coming in Dec, and then again at Easter time, plus your son lives in Tampa. Why not just move down? Lots of nice houses for sale at great prices.

Really? Seriously??? Did you not read my distress with the heat and humidity a week ago??? We were planning on retiring down there, but after a week in that weather, dh has made me promise to never, ever make him head to Orlando at any time between May and Oct!!!
Besides, I like my ds a lot more when he's in Tampa and I'm in Mass...same with one eldest dd...like her much more when she's half an hour away...:lmao:

I hear you about the heat, but if you live here, you don't go to the theme parks in the summer. It comes down to whether you're best able to put up with a New England winter or a Florida summer. In my case I deal with the heat much better than than the cold and snow. But family does play a big part of it as well.
