Tampa Airport to Orlando?

How far by car timewise is Tampa airport to Orlando? We got $59.00 air thru Southwest but have to go to Tampa and drive from there. thanks, Kim

Minimum two hours. It can take as little as 1.5 IF you hit no traffic or construction, but this seldom happens.

I did it on a friday evening 5pm in March($39 Southwest fare) with traffic and construction it took about 95mins. I have had it take less but I'd say at least expect 75 mins. minimum. It's not a bad drive just that with the construction the traffic will just stop for what seems like no reason.

We flew into Tampa in October and it took about 60 - 70 minutes. There was no traffic at all. It was October 22 - not sure what day of the week. I would absolutely do it again for the $ savings.

Tampa airport to WDW exit is 72 miles. Drove it last weekend.
Travel time depends on traffic level and time of day. Alot of fluctuation there, so you will get many different experiences from those on this site.

As others have said it will depend upon day and time. I did it last month. Arrived on a Sat and at around 3:30 pm it took over 2 hrs. Going back on a Wed morning around 8:45 it was about 1 hr 20 minutes.

If you are going to do this, avoid driving in rush hour! Seriously, during this time it can take you longer just to get across Tampa than to get from Tampa to Orlando (unfortunately I work right by the airport and have to drive it everyday ). If you will be traveling on a weekend, it will probably take you about 90 minutes. During the week, it depends on the time of day.

We've done the drive several times - my grandmother lives over in Tampa, so we usually visit her while at WDW. Anyway, it's taken us anywhere from 75 minutes to 2 1/2 hours. I usually plan on 2 hours and take anything less than that as an extra.
