We are flying in to Tampa airport, spending a night at hotel in Clearwater Beach, FL and then driving to Walt Disney World. We are renting a car from Dollar and I was wondering if I would be traveling on any toll roads in going from Tampa to Clearwater and then to Disney World. Once we reach WDW, we don't plan to leave the WDW resort area until we are ready to head back to the Tampa airport. Do I need to purchase the rental car's toll booth transponder (for a ridiculous amount) or will I be able to avoid the toll roads? If I have to hit a toll road, can I pay cash (exact change) or have all toll roads in this area in Florida gone cashless? Thanks for your help! :)

I just returned from a similar trip. We didn't encounter any tolls. We went from TPA to the beach and then on I-4 to WDW.

It is my understanding that if you do encounter a toll you should be able to still pay cash in this part of Florida. Have fun!

no tolls unless you get really really lost!

stay away from the Tampa CrossTown expressway ... and unless you get really really lost you should not be tempted! The Crosstown is electronic or toll by plate ONLY.
