During the conversation on the Universal show today about how Sapphire Falls is pet-friendly, I learned in the live chat that so many of us are dog lovers and would totally bring our dogs on vacation with us!

I thought I'd start this thread so we could share pics of and chat about our furbabies! :dog:

Here's a picture of our Kenji - he's a 130lb Akita and the sweetest thing in the world!

I am a dog lover but unfortunately don't have one any more. Our dog passed away just over a year ago and with our busy lives we thought it was best to not get another one right now.

Jackie this is a good thread. I would bring my dog on vacation if I could. I think it's a great idea to take your pet on vacation esp. if you are going away for a week or more.

Oh love this idea! First off my pups are on instagram. You can follow along on their day to day journeys @lunaandoswald

This is Luna. She is 6.5 years old and a rescue mix. She is about 6 pounds. She is a sweet cuddle bug and will do a bunch of tricks for treats. We've had her since she was a year old.

Next is the baby Oswald. He is 1 year and 2 months old. He is kind of an anomaly of a dachshund haha. He is a miniature by breeding but is so stocky that he is closer to a standard/tweenie in weight. So he really doesn't have a class because he isn't fat and the vet has said so he is just very thick. He has a thick head and thick legs which add a couple pounds. He is our tiny dictator but I love him. He is also a goof ball. No paper is safe around him as he will shred it until there is confetti all over the house.

Wow - he is a BIG boy, but GORGEOUS! I love how he's imitating his toy laying there! :)

So sorry, Ryan. I know how pets become members of our families, not jut animals. Smart decision on your part - you're all thinking of how much you have to give an animal, and not just your wants and needs. I hope someday you'll have another best friend. :)

Will do. Oswald loves smooches. He is my first dog who will scent roll me and I had no clue what it was until I took a video and sent it to a friend. Silly dog gets up in my face and rubs his whole body over it. He is not so happy that I've decided I've had enough so he doesn't get to any more haha.

Awwww. My friend's Cocker, Snickerdoodles, (who is like my own) actually "growls" at me until I pay her (what she deems to be, which never is! LOL) "enough" attention, and she also "purr growls" as I'm petting her, especially her belly. :) And she hates DISBoards, 'cause she thinks I spend WAY too much time here, and NOT enough paying attention to HER! :)

Love the pet pics! Adorable. I'm in the same boat as rteetz. I had to put my big old Lab down approx 3 yrs ago b/c of his multiple health issues & old age. Discovered that I'm not ready for another dog just yet. Love to travel & relieved I don't have to leave a pet behind in a kennel. Of course, every time I see a pet pic I think . . . maybe I should get one of those.

Any pet you eventually get will be thoroughly blessed to have such a great Mommy!

More foster pups!!

There are more foster pups than this, I usually have them for anywhere from a couple weeks to a couple months. We pull them from overcrowded shelters where they are usually on the euthanization list, sometimes just hours from "the end." We provide whatever healthcare they need, spay/neuter them, implant microchips, and socialize and love them to get them ready to find a forever family. Because we have a huge overpopulation problem (leading to the need to euthanize) in Texas and throughout much of the South, we've partnered with a rescue in the Northeast where families are clamoring for adoptable dogs, and we send dogs to them via a specialized dog transport company that has 18 wheelers and trailers custom-built for this purpose about every three weeks.

Oh my gosh @WebmasterKathy - they are all PRECIOUS! And I hope all your fosters found wonderful forever homes after being fortunate enough to spend some time in yours! And I giggled @ the one where the Doxi is "eating" the other Doxi''s head - title that one "I AM the LionTamer!!" :)

He's soo cute Jackie. Did you say you have cats too?
Yes! If you can believe it, we have 3!! I'm kind of a sucker when our daughter brings home a stray kitten and there were TONS of them in the neighborhood we lived in up in Savannah!

He is really huge. He's so funny when he lays like that! He spends most of his time flat out on his side though - the tiles are nice and cold. :)

Okay, just a few more of the mutts who have stolen my heart (and often soiled my carpet!) as they've passed through.

I promise to stop now!

And I love this, you can see how my girls (on the left and right) welcome and help take care of the little lost ones while they are here!

Incredible how much love you've shared, @WebmasterKathy, St. Francis will be waiting for you up in Heaven, for sure!! Thank you so much for sharing!!

That's so kind, Heidi. I started fostering shortly after I lost my husband to leukemia two years ago. It was a way to fill my house and my heart, and these dogs have brought me more entertainment, comfort and love than I could have ever imagined!

Best medicine ever. :)

@WebmasterKathy I am so sorry on the loss of your hubby, but so glad you paid such a loving tribute to his memory by sharing your love with your fur fosters. That's paying it forward!
