Talked to my guide today about current incentives at AKV....if this what you though??

We bought 160 points at Kidani Village where we will be founding members. The price was $104pp minus the $8pp incentive. We will receive our points in Dec 08 and will be able to use them after May 2009. (BTW, our guide said that Kidani is considered our home resort and that it is actually separate from Jamba House, meaning we can book 11 monts out for Kidani, but only 7 for Jamba.) Our MF will start in May '09. We received 160 developer points to be used at SSR (or DL or interval) within 1 year and can not be banked. We used our Disney Visa for the $500 down payment, so we got the $500 gift card.

Already planning our Aug '09 trip to SSR with our developer points!

Okay now I am really confused!!!!! So now Kidani is sep. from Jamba House????? IS this a for real thing??

Nope - the PP was not provide the correct information. Both buildings comprise AKV and either can be booked at 11 months. However you will know which building you are staying in. I called about booking a May 2009 stay at Jambo and would have been able to do so even though my points are Kidani. This obviously is prior to the 7 month mark.

No offense but this does not sound correct. I was told that AKV owners can book at 11 months regardless if you are deeded jambo or kidani. Has anyone else heard anything on this.

I just sent my paperwork back. I think you are wrong on something here, assuming you got the same deal which everyone lately is reporting.

You only need to pay $500.00 down payment instead of 10%. I bought 234 points.

I think some of you posters are confusing new purchases (10% minimum down payment), with the current addon incentive for AKV owners ($500 down payment).

I spoke with a couple on a resort bus yesterday. They bought AKV and got MAY UY.

If you buy and get a use year that has already passed...example June. Are you still going to get 2008 points?? We have december and will get 180 points on December 1st 2008. If we call and ask for June instead(we are still within 10 days) will we still get 2008 points???

According to the below post, the DVC agent told me for new contracts at this time that they are not requiring 10% down on new contracts for the AKL incentive - they are only requiring $500 down (or it may be higher if your credit doesn't allow but not 10% plus they are offering all the incentives listed by GuySmiley as well.)

You only need to pay $500.00 down payment instead of 10%. I bought 234 points. Thats $24,336.00 at $104.00 per point. There was an incentive to lower that to $96/pt. So thats a difference of $1872.00. The way my paperwork read is that I was getting a Visa gift card for $1872.00, and I signed a paper to give permission to DVC to use that for my down payment. So I had to give them another $500.00 for down payment. So effectively, I got $96/pt and only paid $500.00 down.

In ADDITION to that, when my paperwork is closed, I get a $500.00 Visa to use however I want. The $500.00 Visa doesnt have to be used for the down payment.

And by the way, I was freaked out about being turned down also. I was scared to get too excited about it, but no one gets turned down. Its only a question of what interest rate you'll be offered. Either 10% or 14%. If you think about it, Disney doesn't lose anything if you cant make payments, so they wont turn you down.

GuySmiley - Thanks for all your help! I looked over my notes and what you are saying sounds exactly what she told me. And to clarify what another poster said, the incentive is for new owners and doesn't require 10% down. I've never owned before and last week I contacted Disney DVC for some info. She called me back Saturday afternoon, gave me a list of what was required and all the incentives. I'm glad to know I was partially paying attention (so much info!!)

Can the $500 visa gift card be used as the $500 down payment for an add on?

Mine was a new purchase. Its the only contract I own! Im excited. But I got the $500.00 down payment as I wrote.

Really??!!
Well I cant make promises but I see this stated over and over agian around this forum and it makes sense. . . if you stop making payments, you can't make reservations, and its not like Disney has to evict you, they still hold the property. So yeah, I doubt they'd turn anyone down.

No your Dec. UY 08 will be 2008 points you get then. Right now we are in 2007 UY because your UY is Dec......you have a few more months til UY 08. THey are only selling 08 pts. that is why they are giving you those 100 developer to use at SSR between now and next Aug.

We took the bait and added on today.....100 pts. for AKV. I was shocked at how fast our new acct. showed up on line. :cheer2: I got the same deal.....100 dev. points to use within a year at SSR. No payment til Nov. 15th, no MF til May and we also got the 96 bucks a point along with the 500 buck visa to use later. I just did my down payment over the phone (min. 500) and it was very easy. I was shocked at how easy it was.

There is no May use year.

They probably are confused since May, 2009 is the first time any DVC members may stay at Kidani.

I hope they read the DIS - if not, they might learn how things work the "hard" way.

I was told no by my guide on Thursday.

Thanks!

This still sounds like a really great deal to me. I really need to add on, we are always borrowing and we have 200 pts(150 at SSr and 50 at AKV). I just am worried to take advantage of this deal. I am one of those who are waiting for the BLT announcement and really want to add on there.

Learned something this weekend. Maybe I should post a separate thread to let people know.

I bought 234 AKV points, and got 234 SSR developer points. I made reservations for a trip in January. I want a 2 bedroom, which was 243 points, so Im 9 points short. I cannot borrow my AKV points to make up the difference. My AKV points dont really exist until May 09.

Since we are going with friends who own at SSR, we tried to transfer 9 points to me to make up the difference. We cant do that either. They said the developer points can't be used in conjunction with any other points.

I reserved my 2 BR for 6 nights and a 1BR for the last night which came to 230 points. So unless you come up with a way to spend exactly your point allotment at SSR, you will be wasting a few points.

I'm not certain why you couldn't transfer in 9 points but what I can say is that I was allowed to use my regular VWL points along with developers points to complete a vacation booking. And the days did not work out evenly so one day used a combination. I'd call back again about the transfer and booking with combined points.

Now we are SSR owners too so we booked our 100 points in Nov. but we put our regular SSR points with them to make the ressie. Now she did tell me that we can't waitlist any nights with these points so she first used up the 100 points then took from our regular stash. It wasn't hard.....we are staying 2 weekend nights so that right there was 110 points. We are booked for 5 nights which cost us 197 points and we are waitlisted for our other 2 nights.

this is what we were told and what we've actually booked....

AKV Kidani points booked for June at Jambo ~ they are the same points in the end and it is not even close to the 7mth mark. ;) To the PP who's guide is spouting such nonsense, I'd go above her to a manager and ask that she be 're-educated'! LOL

AKV Kidani points ~ cannot be booked for any ressie prior to May 1st. Since it isn't 7mths out from May yet, the only place you could at this very moment book a room is at AKV, either building.

SSR developer points ~ can be combined with regular points. We booked Oct's trip with mostly developer points and then added in 45 of our SSR points to make up the difference.

AKV $8/pp incentive ~ you do have to put 10% down. Even for new purchases. It just so happens that the $8/pp * 100pts + $500 more than equals 10% down. The incentive works directly in DVC's favor. Example w/ 100pts:

old incentive:
$8 OFF per point = $96/pp - 10% down payment = 8640 financed

new incentive:
$8 down payment assistance per point = $104/pp - $800 down payment assistance - $500 customer down payment = 9100 financed

HTH!
