Talk to Me About the Avocado Margarita

So we're eating at San Angel Inn which I see has the same margaritas as what's available at La Cava. Last year I was too chicken to try the avocado margarita (went with the blood orange instead which was good). I'm afraid it will be thick and odd tasting. But I'm tempted because I do like avocado. If you've had it, what did you think?

FABULOUS!!! It is smooth and delightful!! Not odd at all but it is frozen so it's on the thick side. But I loved it and I normally like my margaritas on the rocks. This one is from Hacienda de San Angel which was the highlight of my meal. Feel free to check out my review.

Is there a bad margarita?? Even the Jalapeño, which I would typically skip because I'm a hot pepper wimp, was magnificent! They even used to have Beet Margarita, which I tried just for the novelty of it and it was great!! Apparently not enough others thought so, because it was off the menu in February. Oh well...at least I can say I tried it!
maybe not at la cava but I have had bad margaritas. cuervo gold + chemically sweet and sour mix. yuck. I am a classic on the rocks girl, but I do like frozen drinks when I feel like a frozen drink, not a "margarita." But some of the la cava margaritas sound amazing in their own right and I can't believe I missed the avocado last time I was there. I am not a purist but skunky booze and chemicals in a bottle can't hold a candle to good tequila, fresh squeezed lime and cointreau with just a small squirt of agave to balance the lime. Yum.

t had a subtle (not overly ripe) banana flavor to me.

It has melon liqour in it which is the predominant flavor, though it somehow ends up tasting like banana.
I'm in the banana flavor boat and I'm also in the I LOVE the avocado margarita boat! I like avocados but before I tried it, this sounded a bit gross to me. Eating avocados yes, drinking them, no. However as others have said it doesn't taste much like avocado at all; kind of hard to describe but there is a subtle banana flavor. I also didn't think it was too sweet in the least and I'm a sweet drink kind of girl.

How is the horchata one? Is it very Rum-chata-ish? (Which I love, but ya know...)

I think I may have to try this. Sounds yummy!
Oh, and thanks to the poster who said they will give you a small sample to try! That is very helpful.

I really wanted to try the avocado but was chicken. I love me some guacamole though. Tried the minty pineapple, it was good. It's a good thing La Cava wasn't there 20-30 yrs ago, I would have hurt myself.
