Who has been on one? I am ASSUMING based on research that it will be the first of the very Merrytime cruises with Christmas decorations, gingerbread, etc. but do they do anything special for Thanksgiving? Turkey dinner? Thanksgiving costumes? Pilgrims?

Actually the Very MerryTime cruises typically start with the first or second cruise in November on any given ship. This year's schedule:
Disney Magic November 5, 2016 - December 23, 2016

Disney Wonder November 10, 2016 - December 23, 2016

Disney Dream November 7, 2016 - December 22, 2016

Disney Fantasy November 19, 2016 - December 24, 2016

There is a turkey dinner (well, there's a turkey dinner on most cruises longer than 4 nights anyway, but there's definitely one on Thanksgiving, regardless of the cruise).

I know of the Tom Turkey dinner on the longer cruises (yum I had it last week) but I didn't know if they did anything special for Thanksgiving itself, like all the extra side dishes, etc. Good to know about the Merrytime dates, I see them on the 2016 cruises but the 2017 are still listed as regular.

Not sure what "extra side dishes" you're referring to. On the Prince and Princess menu the turkey dinner has this:
OVEN ROASTED TOM TURKEY BREAST
with Green Beans, Sweet Mashed Potatoes, Rosemary Stuffing, Giblet Gravy and Cranberry relish.

I also found this (it's from 2014, but it may be still the menu for Thanksgiving day)

Thanks for the reply, I did see that on the website, was more looking for info from someone who had been on a Thanksgiving cruise and had some insider info.

Princess Schmoo, thanks for the link to the menu, its not Thanksgiving without mashed potatoes lol!

We went on at thanksgiving cruise and the turkey was not good, if we did it again we would eat at cabanas. The turkey was like a processed turkey roll . But what do you expect they cant cook real turkeys in bulk. They tried to make thanksgiving as magical as they could.

Just be aware that, for dinner, Cabanas is a sit down table service with a menu of selected items off the menu(s) being served in the other dining rooms that evening. You won't be missing much (food-wise) by going there.

Then it would be Palo for us.

You should be able to order regular mashed potatoes instead of the sweet mashed potatoes

We're 140 days out from the Thanksgiving sailings. If you are researching for next year you might give yourself a reminder to check at the end of November for Navigators etc . Mid November is a good time to post to those of us sailing, I'll be on Magic, if you have specific things we should watch and report back on.

The Dream on Thanksgiving 2013, Football on Big Screen, Dinner was awesome: Turkey with dressing, cranberries, potatoes; Lobster tails; baked ham; venison as well. The Christmas decorations were out, very holiday themed.

  • Live football broadcasts via satellite
They need to sign a cooperative deal with La-Z-Boy or Barcalounger to fill D Lounge with recliners so all the dads can go to sleep after Thanksgiving dinner while watching the game.
