Talk to me about staying at the Hyatt and catching the DCL bus to the port

I curious if anyone on the first few August cruises using the DCL bus have checked in and got a PAT yet. I just reread the new guidelines and it says all guest are now required a PAT, however we checked in for the Aug 16th concierge room and we do not have a PAT.

From all I've been hearing, the concierge folks still get priority boarding, but everyone else(including Platinum) must get a PAT.

You can book the MCO Hyatt via DCL for a rate that is sometimes below what you can book yourself online. I've done it multiple times, and it's still being offered.
I had no idea about this but we usually stay the night before a WDW trip not a cruise trip. I'm positive once
we stayed before a DCL trip and didn't get a discount. Maybe because i booked directly with hyatt? Im a
member.

It depends on the Hyatt's pricing for any particular date, if booking directly through them costs more or less than booking via DCL. I just checked for the night before our December 2021 cruise. A standard room would cost $247 before tax booked directly via the Hyatt with no special membership discounts. A standard room booked via DCL would cost $228, with no taxes or fees to pay (I don't know if the cruise line is exempt from tax or if they bundle it into the quoted cost, but their quoted cost is the total amount you have to pay).

Just wanted to say I love this hotel and have stayed there a few times. Have two nights booked already before my cruise in Jan 2022. Don't really care about the luggage. Do wonder if a "runway view" is worth it? There are also some "runway balconies"? I am usually sort of careful with travel funds but darn it, if this trip happens I am pulling out all the stops! So if a runway view/balcony was fun for you, let me know!!!

Concierge does not have to pick a PAT - everyone else (including Platinum) do. (We are both concierge and Platinum on our next cruise.) I'm trying to figure out how it will work for concierge taking the bus from MCO. We are staying at the Hyatt the night before. I'm assuming (but have not confirmed) that concierge can be on the first bus or whatever bus after that, as they arrive.

They put you on the next bus with available spaces. There is a separate check-in line so they check you in before anyone else, but if you if arrive after all the spots have been assigned for the next few busses, you will not bump anyone and they do not reserve seats for late Concierge arrivals.

I totally agree with previous poster. Staying at the ORD Hyatt the night before the cruise has become tradition for us. there is no better place to be than checked into your room, roaming the airport for food and shopping, knowing that you're leaving on a Disney Cruise the next morning. One suggestion....definitely get something to eat before you catch the bus as it may be awhile until you can get lunch.
I’ve been wondering about this, as i scheduled a room the night before my cruise Where does one eat breakfast? Are there places in th3 hotel that serve breakfast? Is chick fil a near the Hyatt?!

My room, scheduled for my May 2022 cruise is $222, and Disney did book it for me.

We typically indulge in room service, but I don't know if the Hyatt has resumed room service since Covid. The Hyatt has good food. Not cheap, though. If you want fast food, I recommend checking the airport map to see what locations are on your side of security.

The hotel itself has two restaurants that serve breakfast:

McCoy's Bar and Grill, which is in their lobby level. We have never eaten there, so can't comment.

Hemisphere Restaurant, on the ninth floor. It is currently closed. Normally, they have an excellent breakfast buffet and also an a la carte breakfast buffet. When we stay at the Hyatt MCO before a cruise we enjoy having breakfast here.

Yeah I know the prior process, but with strict port arrival times, there are not going to be other people who can go to the port at the same time as concierge, thus my question about concierge bus only for the first bus out of MCO.

We booked the Hyatt via DCL and were able to get switched to a runway view room just by asking if one was available. It was and they were happy to oblige. No extra charge.

I'm not sure if the luggage handling will continue upon reopening. I hope it does, but I noticed, for example, that DCL is no longer transferring guests' luggage to the airport via Onboard Airline Check-In. I wonder if the Hyatt-DCL luggage transfer will fall by the wayside, too.
Hi Cheburashka,
Was the runway view room noisy? TUSM!!

Yes! The Hyatt is on the east side of the main terminal, while the food court - with the chick fil a is about a 3 minute walk away.

There is a Chick-fil- A in the food court in the central atrium of the airport. The Hyatt is on the east side of the atrium. Remember, never on Sunday for Chick-fil-A. I think it opens at 6:30 am Monday through Saturday (unless there has been a Covid-related change).

The Hyatt has the Hemisphere restaurant, pricey and at top floor if I recall, they also have a Bar n Grill on the lobby level. The airport has a large food court and some other restaurants, and there is a big Disney store, Universal store, etc. Not sure about Chick fil a tho.

The hotel has 2 dining rooms that serve breakfast and is a bit pricey. Starbucks is just outside the Hyatt entrance, we usually go for a bagel and coffee. Too excited to eat a big breakfast and food awaits on the ship. Staying at the Hyatt and taking the Disney bus is so convenient and stress free. Our next cruise, we actually booked a day room for the return flight since we have a late flight.

People have posted on other threads that the first Port Arrival Time is 1pm.
So I would be sure to eat in the morning. By the time you check in and if you have kids that need to be tested it may be 2-3:00 before food is available.
Also 1pm is the first PAT so it may be much later until you can board.
