Talk to me about Spice Road Table...

So, my party (three adults) doesn't want to make too many ADRs, but we wanted something in Epcot on our first night so we'll know what we're doing. Currently I have us booked at La Hacienda de San Angel, where I have eaten before and enjoyed it. However, Spice Road Table intrigues me - the menu looks fun and the theming looks great, and sharing the smaller plates/apps also appeals. I don't really remember it from past trips - is it relatively new?

Any thoughts or feedback? Should we give it a try or stick with what we have?

What's your phone number?

Its relatively new, and one of my favorites, but I love eating tapas style! I think I've tried all their apps I believe and they're great. I really enjoy their grape leaves, a little different flavor profile than the greek ones which are more common and generally, they're delicious. Their aperitif flight is really interesting too. With 3 adults, it'd be a great dining choice, and sitting on the patio by the lagoon is pretty exceptional on its own.

It's myself and my two sisters, so we like to go out and share things so I think the tapas style would be fun! I'll make note of the grape leaves - we all love grape leaves! The aperitif flight sounds interesting too!

Yes, the setting looks lovely. On the description it says, "Prepare yourself for the perfect vantage point to enjoy Illuminations." Does it really have a good view. The pictures of the dining room make it look fairly shallow, so it looks like even the interior tables have a view of the water. That would be a fun bonus!

We ate there just after it opened and had a fine experience. We ate outside with a lovely view of the water. Our service was a bit spotty but I chalk that up to the CMs getting used to the place, menu, etc. Enjoy.

Considering you're going for the Golden Spoon, you must know your stuff! Of course, now that I know I want to swap it out, I can't get the dining reservations to work on MDE! I can see the times, but then Stitch keeps eating the page! :stitch2:

We were there in 2014 so things may have changed...

On a Thursday evening in October we walked up about 8:15, it seemed full, but we got seated outdoors, not right on the railing but close to it. Food was wonderful, drinks were good and we got to watch Illuminations.

We really enjoyed it.

We eat there just about every trip, we love the small plates and the fact that you can get so many different types of food. We have never made ADRs, we have always been able to walk up and get a table. I would imagine if you were outside seeing Illuminations would be pretty easy, inside there is a row of tables that are right by the windows so you would be good there. The row on the inside of the room might be a little difficult.

We love the food at Spice Road Table and we've been there for Illuminations. The view is ok, there is a small island partially blocking your view of the globe but you can see the fireworks and they pipe in the music if you happen to have a table inside. We loved our experience and would definitely do it again.

For whatever reason this place seems to get lambasted by the Disney bloggers I follow on Twitter. The joke seems to be that it's always empty, even when the park is packed.

I've always thought the menu and setting looked intriguing as well, not sure why it gets picked on? Sadly with our kiddos I've never been adventurous enough to give it a try.

I wonder if it's "too ethnic?"

SRT is one of my favorites. We, too, are small plates eaters. Although I love the grape leaves, the hummus & olives is my fav. Others in my party have had the Brie fondue & lamb sliders (?) and it was all good. Highly recommended, and easy to get a reservation! :-)

This is now our go-to TS in EP. We've gone there at least 5 times and have done walk-ups on four of those visits. The food is great (love the hummus and lamb sliders!!), the cocktails are delicious and the staff are incredibly friendly. DH and I went there for a "date night" last August and struck up a conversation with our server who said he typically tends the bar (which gets really lively!). My DH expressed interest in the liquors from the different Middle Eastern countries listed on the menu. Our server then proceeded to make my DH his specialty cocktail (which wasn't on the menu), plus small tastings of all the other liquors (which he didn't charge us for). We left him a BIG tip! He just made it such a fun, special evening. On our last trip, DS9 decided he wanted the steak from the adult menu and our server kept checking on him to see how he was going to eat all of the food - it was really funny! We just always have great meals and great servers there! I really recommend it!

Okay, y'all have really convinced me! Like I said, the menu really appeals to me and my sisters - I think that we'll love it! I wish Stitch would stop eating the page so that I could change my reservation! :stitch2: Although it sounds like it's a bit of an undiscovered gem!

I made a same day ADR for an early lunch with a local friend in Dec. and we had a few small plates. We chose the Morroccan lamb sausage (definitely had a kick), brie fondue (so yummy), hummus fries (interesting, didn't love nor hate) and the fried calamari (crispy, not greasy, but they snuck in some fried hot peppers).

We sisters do enjoy both a friendly staff and a specialty cocktail! This sounds right up our alley! We're going to be really footloose and fancy free on this trip so this sounds great!

Everything on the menu sounds good to me, but I'm a fan of Mediterranean food, as are my sisters! I don't quite understand what a hummus fry is? But I always enjoy trying new things...

I agree with all of this! We kept bumping it from our list, and finally did it for the first time this past Aug. We REALLY enjoyed all the small plates and the drinks, and are going back for sure this coming Aug. :thumbsup2

We stopped there last Friday for some nibbles. Enjoyable place to sit for a while. Food was good, with some rather "different" choices that may not appeal to everybody.
