Talk to me about Legoland.

So, we were going to go to Legoland during our trip. Kids are not huge Lego fans, but they do like the stuff. They asked to go to Legoland last time we were in the USA but we didn't go, so I figured we would go this time.

I haven't bought the tickets yet (was planning on getting tickets and transport from Anaheim) but was going to do it fairly soon. Then I read ehsmum's trip report, and I got a bit worried. It was not a great review and a few replies from others mentioning that they thought it was a bit not worth it too. Do you think that it was bad because you went on a weekend ehsmum, or was it just not good overall?

So can those that have been give me an honest opinion about whether or not it is worth going to. There is me, DD 10 yrs old and DD 8 yrs old. None of us are particularly into rough or thrill rides (more like the slow and steady type ). To be honest it is DD1 that really wants to go and to be honest I think the main reason is to see all the cool Lego sculptures. When I think about it the rides probably aren't going to be so much of a big deal because will will have been to Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm, and the week after we will be going to SeaWorld.

And the thing is that Legoland is soooooo expensive compared to the other theme parks. I am really starting to wonder if I should just save my money for something else.

We liked legoland. Actually my DS almost preferred that to Disneyland

We did the Grayline tour that had the bus and admission included. We went during the week in December, it was a warmish day and I just sat there whist my DS went on these jetski looking things over and over and over and over again as there were just no queues for anything. We played a game of mini golf whilst there. Also there are Bionicle things that is a tea cup ride that goes faster and the things spin more, couldn't get off that either.

The 3d show wasn't bad either, it was some lego racers thing I think (can't exactly remember).

But we had no queues so just walked onto everything. There are some rides that were really lame (I hate that word ) but they would be great for younger kids. We went to the aquarium thing too, which didn't take long, we did it in Paris too and the Paris one was much better.

We would go again. My son was 10 and he absolutely loved it and the Christmas lego displays were amazing!

We love Legoland and will be going for the 3rd time next year. My kids are younger though - last visit they were 3 and 4. There were more rides for their ages than at DL. Both times we went midweek (in Oct & Nov), and there were no waits for anything.

We like legoland too. DS was 9 when we last went. We've always been there where there have been practically no queues and we've been able to get on most rides within 5 - 10 minutes. I've never gone at a weekend, mostly mid-week. The rides are a lot tamer than the other bigger parks but we like the jetski, bionicles, the dragon ride, the ride that is the equivalent of mad mouse and the 3D (or is it 4D) lego racers show. We also like the rides on the other side that drop down. They also have some shows, that are really 'lame'; but if you're there, check it out. My son also likes the playground.

If you are staying in Anaheim, check out Cleaver Brothers on South Harbour blvd. I've always bought my legoland tickets from them at a slightly discount rate. And in 2009, they threw in minigolf tickets with the kids tickets; which is worth about $10. We've always driven, so I can't provide any opinion on whether a transport/ticket combination is better.

I should have added that we had coupons - 1 kid gets in free with an adult. I got them from a lovely DIS member, who had brought them off US ebay. Also, Mousesavers have a Legoland page with details of any special offers.
