Talk to me about Emerald Isle...

Last time we stayed at Windsor Hills but never ever used the community area. We loved our private pool and were too busy at the parks.

Emerald Isle is SO much cheaper and there is lots of availability. Is it close enough to the parks?

Is it gated?

We've stayed at both Windsor Hills and Emerald Island and they both have a manned gate. The community pool area of EI isn't as big as WH but there is a tiki bar with lunch type menu and drinks etc. There are also some planned activities at the clubhouse and a small playground. But since like us you don't use this area much then it won't matter.
The entrance into Emerald Island is beautiful and the grounds are very well kept. There is actually more mature vegetation throughout the resort area than at WH. (it's prettier)
It would only take you about 2 min. longer to get to Disney from EI than from WH. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Emerald Island again. It's a nice place.

I have got some information.

EIR has more landscape and less hardscape then WH. WH has a slide EIR does not, EIR main pool is smaller then WH. EIR has a Tiki Bar and WH does not.

Just a few of the differences from each other.

Both are close ti Disney and are beautiful resorts.

I think EI may be a little older, as someone mentioned, the public pools are not as large. We stayed there a couple years ago, got a great deal, would be happy to do so again: nice townhouse, great location, very nice. FWIW.

Emerald Island was built from 2002 to 2005. The townhouses were built from 2002 - 2003 and the pool homes up to 2005.

The pools at EIR are smaller then WH and have no slide.

There are 2 pools one in phase 1 near the club house and one in phase 2 of the town homes.

Wanda is right the inception of EIR started in 2002 with the town homes. I am not sure when the last home was sold from phase 5 but she was on the money when she said 2005 that sounds about right.

The landscaping has matured a lot in those few years and has truly added to the resort.
