My DIL family is from Portugal, living in Boston for 20 years. QUITE the accent there! They speak Portugese with Boston accent, lol
I used to speak so 'southern' that people couldn't understand me at times. I ended up taking speach lessons for almost a year. When I go to Georgia to see relatives I always sound like a hick when I come back.

My accent comes back whenever I go back to Alabama or get talking to TiggerinBama for a while.
