It's a shame that this family opened their home to this man when he needed help and he did this to them. As an adult I might be able to say that I guess he needed the money more than I did - but that might be a hard thing to explain to a little one!
A 34-year-old homeless man staying with relatives in Springfield Township thanked his hosts by stealing $400 in change that they had been saving to take their children to Disney World, according to township police.
Roger Birkofer was arrested on a charge of theft Monday after the money was discovered missing Sunday, the day Birkofer was set to leave, the report said.
"The defendant no longer has the money, is homeless and probably will never be able to repay the money," police wrote in a report.
Birkofer was released from the Hamilton County Jail due to overcrowding.
