Still looking to find the answer about the Talent Show if DCL provides music backup or has a piano available for use.

Anyone who has been to the Talent Show, can you give a report back on what it was like, etc?

If not, I'll do my best to share what I see/learn/find out from this week's cruise.

Thanks!

Rae

When our DD's friend was in the Talent Show in 11/01, the guys that did "Dueling Pianos" accompanied anyone who needed it.

I have to say, they were less than pleasant with the kids who were in the show. Our DD's friend (teenager) said they were very rude and seemed as if they really didn't want to be doing it. There is a rehearsal on one of the days before the show.

Also, there's no real "winner" -- I guess that's why they call it a Talent SHOW and not a Talent CONTEST. We were kind of disappointed, cause we thought they would give them some kind of little souvenir if they were really good, but probably didn't want to upset anyone by someone actually winning, so they just do a show.

Good luck and have fun!

Our family performed in the show. We had a really great experience. We did "Teach your children" as a family of 4. Our kids sang the 'teach your parents' verse exchanging the word 'heck' from the other one. They not only had a piano for you to use, they also had a guitar for my husband. They even let him bring it back to our cabin between the rehearsal and the show so he could practice. I didn't see dueling pianos, so I don't know if those were the same guys. I think one of the guys organizing it had been in the 'Meet the actors' behind the scenes though. He was trained to fill in for tons of roles if another actor were to get sick. (Maybe he was filling in that night) Anyway, there was a skilled pianist there who was a good sport for playing along to other peoples songs and even helped out a girl who forgot how the rest of her song went at the rehearsal. Bring music with you! At the end, they brought everyone who performed back onto the stage for a final bow. Then they gave each of us a cool lanyard with a gold medallion on it that said "I'm a Winner" and had the DCL logo on it. I promptly changed over my pins collection onto it. They also had a nice playbill made up for the show, so having our family listed on it was a nice addition to the scrapbook.
Go for it and have fun.

That sounds really cool.In 3 cruises we have never made it to the show. When is it held? When is registration?

On the 4/19/03 Eastern Magic....my daughter and niece performed. They brought their own CD and costumes. They had been practicing their own choreographed dance for months prior. Signup, I believe was on Wed, practice on Thu and the show on Fri. A children performed show at 7:30 and adult performed show at 10:30. There was an MC/piano player that requested you have your own sheet music if you needed accompinment. no prizes, no grand finale ....just fun. Also, as our kids performed last and people left the audience when their act they were supporting had gone...therefore leaving our children with ony us in the audience. The show was held in Rocking Bar D.

Thank you, everyone who replied to my thread!!!
Sounds like it can be either a contest or just a sing-along night!
Either way....it sounds like great fun!
