So, we are looking at eating at Tekumi Tei on July 4th. is there A dress code?

Yes there is. But people have been posting that they have eased up on it. I imagine just as long as you don't show up in daisy dukes and tank top, you will be fine. Nice shorts/capris and a shirt would probably work.

If they can figure out a way to get me in a dress and heels from the entrance to the restaurant then I’m down w a dress code. Same for a guy in a suit

now if you want me to wear that and walk a miLe in July heat? Never ever gonna happen. You can’t expect people to dress like they are going to v&a when the restaurant is located smack dab in world showcase

if they had a service to drive you around? Sure, let’s go.

They have the same problem as Monsieur Paul.
The food and decor are worth the dress code. However, spending the day at the park, most are not going back to their resort to change before their meal.

They are not enforcing the dress code. Shorts and a t-shirt are fine. If you want to up your game, polos and dress shorts and sundresses would do the trick (that's what we wear anyway). I think they figured out pretty quickly that strictly enforcing a dress code in a theme park was not going to be good for business.

DS9 and I ate there not too long after it opened. At the time I was very concerned about the dress code. As others have noted, I wouldn't say it was particularly enforced in any material way. We were wearing khaki shorts and polos and felt fine. Others around us were wearing much more casual clothing.

Enjoy your meal - it's a unique/special place (in my opinion).

I completely agree. It is a looong walk from the entrance back to Japan in any shoes other then gym shoes. Plus who wants to waste time touring during the day, going back to your room to clean up, then taking the bus back to Epcot all dressed up. I like that they want to stay fancy, but it is not something that is conducive to a theme park.

I wish that I had know that on my trip last month that they had eased up. The web site still says dress up clothes. I would have went if I had know. I will go in October, if the whole world does not die from the Coronavirus.

Both times I was wearing lightweight knit pants with a nice top and flat shoes. DH wore good khakis with a nice collared shirt. Totally did not feel out of place. I would not personally go there in shorts but you don't need a dress or suit.

Off topic, but for those of you who have gone, was it worth it? I am reading a lot of conflicting reviews that it isn't worth the cost. I know that is subjective, but would love to hear some Dis reviews.

I have an upcoming reservation for 3 (myself, dh, dd12). We will not be choosing the tasting menu. DD and I will likely get sushi (Aburi Wagyu and Takumi Sashimi), and dh will get beef. The restaurant looks lovely, but the price of certain items is definitely excessive. $10 for miso soup? I know that will be skipped.

It is expensive, but we thought it was worth it. I had originally booked it for February but DH wanted to go on our December trip so I cancelled and booked it for December. After we went, I rebooked for February. The service is so good and the food and drink delicious. I think my favourite so far was the wagyu shortrib appetizer. It's actually quite large for an appetizer and was just so amazing. So was the caramel sauce on the castella cake. We had some lovely sakes to pair both times (the yuzu sake is just wonderful - we had that both times). We definitely plan to go again. When we went the second time, they asked us which room we'd been in the first time and made sure to put us in a different one. Two down, three to go!

Thank you for your review! I don't mind spending the money when it's worth it. Repeat visits is telling. And I will keep the wagyu shortrib appetizer in mind.
