After lurking for the past four years and reading hundreds of trip reports, I have decided to take a stab at writing a pre-trip and trip report.
I am also hoping that by writing this it will help pass the painful days till our next trip. We leave August 31st and are staying till September 11th. I realized the other day that we will be flying on the 10th anniversary of September 11th. Creepy I know, but fitting since we were at Disney on the 1st anniversary of that awful day.
So I guess I should introduce you to the cast:
DH: A 34 year old Disney fanatic. He dreams of retiring to Disney and driving a resort bus. He didnt even realize how much he loved Disney till our first trip together in 2001. He cracks me up. This will be his 8th trip "home".
DS10: A lover of anything Pokémon but Disney is a close second. I guess I can deal with that. Whats a mom to do? He also has ADHD and Aspergers, so routine is very important to him. That means hell be up by 5:30am whether or not were on vacation. Who needs sleep?
This trip will be his 5th trip.
DS6: He is the polar opposite of DS10. He is as outgoing as a kid could be. He also is my ride buddy. There isnt a ride he wont ride. Right now he is at 47 inches with his shoes off. Hopefully hell grow an inch in the next month. I will be very sad for him if he cant ride Rock n Roller Coaster. This will be his 4th trip, not counting his trip in utero.
Next up DD: She is our trouble maker
. I thought we had parenting down till we had her. You know how some girls are light pink. By light pink I mean sweet, ballerina, calm, prim and proper. Well thats not her. I refer to her as a hot pink kind of girl. As in shes wild, crazy, outgoing, hate to say it diva (eww!) sort of girl. But she is ALL girl and is in love with all things princess. DH is very thankful that she is not a tomboy. He has always dreamed of a Daddys little girl and he got one big time.
I almost forgot to mention this is her 1st trip. We have cancelled the last two trips because we knew she wouldnt do well. I am in no means against taking a baby. We took DS6 at 5mo and 23mo. But she is no go-with-the-flow kind of chick. She likes her naps and she likes them OFTEN. I couldnt stand to think of my Disney trip being spent in the room.
Next we have DFIL: Hes a great go with the flow guy. DD2 has him tightly wrapped around her pinky. This is his second time at Disney with us.
Next we have DSMIL: A great gal who was so excited to hear we were headed back to visit the mouse that she wanted to join in. This is our second trip with her as well. She is a perfect fit to our crew. And because she has MS she will also be DDs nap bubby.
The great thing about DFIL and DSMIL is that they are happy to let DH and I do all the planning, no questions asked!!!
Although that makes me pressure myself even more to plan the perfect trip.
Last but not least ME! It was hard to find a picture of me since I am always the one taking the pictures.
I am a 33 year old stay at home mom who never gets a chance to stay home (mostly because I have yet to learn to say 'no' to anything or anyone). Oh well I can sleep when the kids are grown, right? I love Disney, but I think I enjoy planning the trip just as much as the trip itself. Trip planning means list writing and I love writing and rewriting lists. I also enjoy filling my time taking pictures. This will be my 8th trip.
Well thats the crew. Now on to the fun stuff, we are staying a Kidani Village with rented DVC points.
This is our first time at a deluxe resort. It is also our first time renting points. The point renting seems pretty scary to me, but so far so good. My biggest concern now is that we are going to get spoiled and crave staying at deluxe resorts.
When we first started staying at Disney we stayed at ASMU and ASMOVIES. Then we stayed at Riverside and Coronado resorts. After our two stays in moderates I decided to save us some money and stay at POP. I had heard such great things about POP on the boards so it sounded like a good idea. I was wrong. We all missed the mods and we had awful luck with the buses for the first time ever.
I am very curious to see if staying in a deluxe once ruins us.
Only time will tell. The remote location is the only thing worrying me about Kidani. I have already decided that if the busses are taking forever we will get a car. I always like to have a plan B.
Sorry, but thats all for now. I have to get up early and walk. Gotta get in shape for Disney!!! Exercise doesnt seem so bad if its for the mouse.
