Taking the kids out of school for a Disney trip?

Our big family vacation is Febuary, although our kids are now 10 1/2 and 15, we shortened it since they were smaller, used to be 3 weeks to FL now it's 11 days. 3 more years our son will be finished with HS and because of all our trips to FL he's planning on going to college in FL---so it's been added plus for us!

We started taking my 10 1/2 year old DD when she was 4 months old and our thoughts are: is they aren't missing anything, they are very small kids....and our family time is very important, I now work PT but DH works and is just about finished with his MBA so our family time is very important. The school does frown upon it, considering this year, my son was out a week, (with a fracture in his tailbone) and then two weeks later we take him out of school nearly another week, they were po but he stayed after and went in missed his sports and was dedicated *in our school district they wouldn't pre give him or my daughter assignments.
As they did years ago when we lived in another state.
So we say, relax, it's vacation and let's enjoy the time we have as a family!
I agree, years from now, they will have cherished family memories of family time.
We drive to FL so it's even more enjoyable! We have our favorite stops/resteraunts, etc. and The kids love to get their fireworks in NC....ooops did I say that! LOL!
In the younger grades they used to give our kids diaries to write about in their trips, and some teachers were very easy going and had the same feelings us, go and enjoy your family time.
Don't worry about the work. Sprry for the long post, but I had to put in my 2 cents!LOL!
