I hate long pre-trip reports. There, I have it out in the open and I no longer have to be ashamed. I also hate long drawn out descriptions on the drive to the airport, the security, the flight, bla bla bla bla. This is the Dis people, I want to hear about your trip to my favorite place in the world, not how the food is at LaGuardia. So there are two things you will not be seeing in this trip report.

BRIEF Pre-trip Report

As DVC members we have been fortunate enough to be able to visit the World a couple of times a year since 1999. However, we own our own business and business has really taken a dive the last two years. Because of that this will be our first trip to the World since spring of 2005. This will also be our first trip with our new baby, Kendi, born in January. Because of this I think we will enjoy this trip more than any trips we have taken in a very long time, maybe ever. We have really had to scrimp and budget and save, even the kids have voluntarily passed on a lot of things in order to make this happen. Did I mention kids, we have seven, that’s right seven. My wife and I each have three from our first marriages and we had our first together in January as mentioned above. May the lord have mercy on our souls.

The Cast: Me 36 YO lover of all things Star Wars and Disney. DW (Ashley) 32 YO who has learned to love the Mouse, but still yearns for a vacation laying on the beach instead of waiting in a queue. DM age not important, the best Meme in the world, tireless maker of cupcakes, never to busy to spend hour upon hour with our seven dwarfs. OK now kids quick and dirty: DS Colby 15 YO, DD Shelby 12 YO (thinks she’s 25), DS Joshua 11 YO, DD Lexi 8 YO, DD Jaina 7YO, DD Jadyn (Peach) 4 YO, and last but not least with her pea sized head DD Kendi 4 MO.

We will be staying at the BWV for the first six nights and moving to US HRH our last night. This move was not by design. Accidentally, I booked our flight home a day to late, and by then no DVC availability. I thought this was a good opportunity to take the kids to US for the first time. Did I say it was an accident? I’ll never tell, even if threatened with Hamburger Helper for dinner every night for a week! We will be trying the dining plan for the first time, I think it will work well for us, as we generally always have one sit-down meal per day anyway, so we should save $$$. I hope. Did I say I hate long pre-trip reports……………………………………….See you at La Guardia.

AAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Its May 21st, we leave in 12 days. I just called DVC to add the DDP and guess what? We have no reservation!!!!! I get transferred to Member Finance to find out that they never received our dues for this year. I mailed them back in October, but they never received them. Now I am mad, I ask why in the h e double hockey sticks I never received any notices. I am told that numerous notices were sent. To what address, I ask. She tells me, it’s my office address. My old office address. The address that I filed a change of address for. For the company, not me. I realize this means all company mail was forwarded, but mailed addressed to me was not. I tuck my tail between my legs, pay the dues, and then find out, sorry, no availability now since it is less than two weeks till arrival. When I get done crying, :sad1: I call CRO to see if there is anything available. The Lord is answering prayers today and there is a two bedroom available at SSR. I manage, between four credit cards to book a room, DDP, and hoppers. The CM I talked to felt so bad for me, she gave me a code to use which gave us free waterparks and saved about $1000.00 off of rack rates. But now the vacation budget which I tried so hard to keep is blown. Badly blown. By about 3 grand. I need a Lapu Lapu right now!!!! :drinking1

 I'm first! I love the "extra day" part....something similiar happened to us!
I dont know how you survived the DVC thing...oh man...what are the chances that that would happen...mail not forwarded etc. I am glad you found a place to stay...2 bdrms WOW!! That will kill a budget fast! Here's a Lapu Lapu for ya! (insert lapu smiley here)

I have to tell you Cathy, I truly almost had a stroke when they told me there was no ressie. We had purposely waited to tell the kids that we were going until we knew we had finally saved every dollar we needed to make this trip happen. We told them about a week before I found out about the room. Our daughter Lexi is deathly afraid of flying and normally she will skip our vacations that involve a plane, but even she was thrilled. Thanks to the Lord above that there was a room available. No matter the cost, I could not have told the kids that we were not going.
