I take a weekly injection.. If I will need some sort of written documentation from my doctor to bring it on board.

When I have flown, all I needed was the packaging with the prescription lable on it.

Will a cruise require anything different, since it's in international waters?

Your best bet is to ask DCL about this directly. Unless you're planning on taking the shots on land, rather than on the boat, DCL's policy is all that will matter.

I have weekly injections too. I always have a written letter on hospital letterhead for my flights and for the cruise. When I made my most recent reservations DCL was sending me a form to have filled out by my doctor as well. Definitely give them a call.

I just called, and the DCL rep said that as long it was sealed in its orginal packaging labeled as prescribed medication, it would be no problem, and a doctors note wouldn't be necessary.. thank goodness, cause a specialist makes you $$ for everything!

She did say that I would need to fill out a medical release form in order to special request a fridge, since I need to store my medication in a fridge. Once I did that, it would already be in my room once I got there.

I just recently got off the ship:( and I take a daily injection, I brought with me a letter (actually I carried a couple copies for the trip down and the return) from my doctor for the airline and for the cruise letting them know I was travelling with needles, (important mostly for the airlines since I carried them in my carry on). I also had a container (a plastic gatorade bottle) to store my used needles in, and then on the last day took them down to health services to dispose of them for me. Disney does have a medical form to fill out (from your doctor) to alert them of meds or medical conditions, you have. I had no problems travelling with all of mine, and I did take the original prescriptions with me, just in case for some reason I would have to have them refilled (If my stay needed to be extended in the event of any problems) I could have them refilled without having to go through all sorts of red tape. Hope this helps, and have fun!!!!:)

My DH takes daily insulin injections. When I made our reservations with DCL, I notified them of the need of a refridgerator to keep the insulin cold. The DCL rep also suggested that they could provide a "sharps" container in the room for disposal of the used needles. You may want to inquire about a "sharps" container.
It makes sense that they would supply something like this for the safety of their own employees.

Patiently waiting for the Oct 23, 2005 4 day Wonder & WDW
