Taking ME back to airport then renting a car?

Would this be difficult at all? Instead of taking ME back to MCO and then getting on a flight, would it be difficult to take it back, rent a car and then continue on with the rest of our vacation elsewhere in Florida? I wasn't sure where ME drops people off and if it would be difficult finding the rental car area from there. Thanks!

No problem. Once you get back to Orlando International Airport, Disney and DME don't care what you do from there.

To make the DME reservation go more quickly, have in mind a flight, any flight, any airline leaving about 1-1/2 hours after your car rental pickup time. The reservationist may or may not ask for this. Your assigned bus should be scheduled to leave the resort 1 to 1-1/2 hours before the pickup time.

Just go inside to find the rental counters which are all up and down the corridor that runs along the windows to the outside the full length of the terminal building. (I forget which level they are on; you may have to go upstairs to level 2 first. Car rental agencies have counters on both the A side and the B side so you don't have to go all the way up to level 3 and over and down the other side.

why not try to rent on site at The S/D resort in the Dolphin or at the car care center. That way you won't waste time going all the way back to MCO.:goodvibes

We dropped our car off at the car care center last trip. Super easy and they gave dh a ride back to our resort (POR). Oh and there was no difference in price between dropping it off at WDW vs the airport!

While I LOVE  ME... I would definitely not waste time on my last day at WDW riding it to the airport just to rent a car!

We are staying at OKW and instead of going all the way back to Orlando Airport to pick up the car for our drive to Ft. Lauderdale to go on a cruise after our Disney visit.

We are renting through Alamo and picking the car up at Dolphin.

If you belong to Costco, use this I.D. / Corp I.D. #7014627

Our 1 day rental for a Standard size car is $46.27 dropping the car off at Ft. Lauderdale Airport.

Our transportation to getting to Dolphin will be this:

We could ride the boat from OKW to Downtown Disney, and the bus from DTD to the Dolphin ...

-- or --

We could take the bus from OKW to Hollywood Studio, and the boat from DHS to the Dolphin.

Just replace OKW with your resort, most likely this will save you almost 2 hours in time.

Ditto this.

I think it's sneaky to pretend like your taking ME for a flight when you're actually just going to pick up a rental car. But that's just me.

Great ideas about renting at the Dolphin or Car Care Center however I have an okay rental rate through Enterprise and a not so okay rate through Alamo (about $200 more). So unless the prices come down (I will keep checking) it's back to the airport for us!

Thank you again for all of your replies!

There's nothing "sneaky" about it.

Disney's Magical Express provides transportation between Orlando International Airport and Disney resorts for guests listed on Disney room reservations. It doesn't matter how a guest arrives at or departs from the airport. Most guests will travel by airline, and the DME system is designed to include flight numbers. However, it doesn't matter what airline a guest uses or whether the guest is actually connecting to or from a bus, rental car, hotel shuttle, private ride, or mule-drawn wagon at the airport.

Just to clarify - there is no requirement that you have to be flying in or out of MCO to use DME. They really don't care how you got to MCO or where you go after they drop you off. Since 99% of folks using DME are flying the system is designed around that.

Anyone staying at a WDW resort gets a round trip transfer via DME if they wish.

You do need to be a resort guest on the day your using DME, it doesn't even have to be arrival or departure day and you do need an advance reservaton.

You Can call DME and make a reservation without a flight number, we have done this a few times.

Does anyone have a coupon/code for the mule-drawn wagon?! :thumbsup2
