Taking Little Miss to Meet the Mouse! ~ A May 2015 PTR ~ Trip Report Link Posted!!

Congrats on your resort re-switch! My 9yo DD and I have been wanting to stay in a Royal Room for a couple of years, but with 4 kids, we would need 2 rooms and that just isn't in the cards. I hope your princess loves it!

Thanks! As much as I am sure that Little MIss will LOVE the room I think I will enjoy it even more! :thumbsup2

Family Movie Night- Beauty and the Beast

:wave:Hey all hope you are starting to reclaim some normalcy after the craziness of Christmas. I ended up with a cold on Christmas which turned into a sinus infection, so my house is still trashed from Christmas, and I've been on a bit of a warpath to get the house clean again. Let’s not even get into taking down the Christmas decorations! :headache: Other than getting sick and having the house trashed while I lay in bed sick I had a nice Christmas and a very quiet New Years. Now on to the main update:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This movie night has been a long time in the works. Beauty and the Beast has always been one of my top favorite Disney movies and so I wanted to do it justice. After at least 10 different attempts at pulling this night off only to have it get delayed again and again, we ended up splitting this into a 2 night event. We did our activity and watched the movie one night and then had the meal itself another due to lack of ingredients.
So our first night we made our Grey Stuff Pie. It’s quite easy to make and just takes time to set.
The ingredients are pretty simple. 2 boxes Oreo pudding mix, 1 Oreo pie crust, 2 ½ cups milk, extra Oreos to crush up. Mix everything up, pour into crust, put in fridge or freezer to set. Top with whipped cream. As you can see, we had big fun making it. After making the pie we watched the movie.
A few nights later we FINALLY were able to get the meal portion done. For the meal we had:
Croque Monsieurs aka grilled ham and cheese sandwiches. I’ve never made/had one before so I just winged it the best I could based on what I found online.
And Gaston’s Deviled Eggs because he’s a devil and loves his eggs. (Yeah I know I’m stretching that one a bit!) :rotfl2:
Of course for desert we had our Grey Stuff Pie! This ended up being quite a favorite in the house and we will be making it again!
I’ve finally gotten around to ordering the Planning DVD and that should be here in the next few weeks or so. I am truly at a loss for a themed meal for that one so we will see what we come up with. Any suggestions in that department would be helpful.
The Grey stuff sounds delicious!
Does they grey stuff at Magic Kingdom tastes like oreos?
What about going to allears.net and finding some WDE recipes there?
Maybe do DIY Dole Whips for MK (pineapple or orange sherbet with pineapple juice poured over)
Yeah its pretty much a cookies and cream mousse/ frosting. DH and I both kinda feel that my pie is actually better. But thats just us.
:wave2: Hi there, I may be mistaken (If I am sorry) but I believe this is your first time commenting so :welcome:!
I LOVE the dole whip idea! :thumbsup2
Oh I love your Beauty & The Beast theme. That Grey Stuff looks delicious (and I don't even have to ask the dishes).
The sandwiches looks yummy too (I'll pass on the eggs thought).
Your daughter is precious and I love her licking the icing. :goodvibes
:cutie: Everyone needs a little spatula licking (or whisk in this case) in their life! ::yes:: She took that job VERY seriously! :rotfl:
Interesting. One of my favorite desserts is chocolate pudding pie (in a regular shell with whipped cream.) So now I'll have to try making it with oreo pudding and see how that goes.
I'm not sure if I made it clear in the update but I put extra crushed Oreos into the pudding mixture to thicken it up a bit and make it more Grey.
Getting Crafty- Magicbands part 2
So I recently finally got around to finishing DH’s Magicband from our last trip. I am really proud of it and think it turned out AMAZING!
Once again like the first one I did, this one started off with a base of acrylic metallic blue paint and then I added the decal from www.myfantasybands.com and then finished it off with a high gloss acrylic sealer.
I love your BatB party night! I had no idea what the grey stuff was at WDW. Yours looks really good!
Nice work on the Magic band. I love how planning a WDW trip makes everyone so creative!
Nice job on the Magic Band. It turned out great.
:thumbsup2 Thanks!
Thanks. Grey Stuff Pie is a new favorite for us. And I think I love that about trips too! For my next project I am thinking about making a stroller bag to help spot our stroller in the parks. I just need to decide which stroller we are going to take first.
We're going around the same time, so I decided to come over and check out your PTR too! You are so lucky to be staying in a Royal Room, it's on my Disney bucket list for the future! The pictures of the princesses and silhouettes of the princes are just so beautiful! princess: Your little one is absolutely adorable, and the magic band looks great!
:wave2: Hi there! :welcome: I am indeed very happy to stay in a Royal Room! Its been on my Bucket list as well.
It will be fun to plan together!
Sounds like a yummy dinner night! Grilled ham and cheese, deviled eggs, and grey stuff pie...that's my kind of meal!:rotfl2::thumbsup2
Oh my goodness, your DD is just too adorable! Love the pic of her licking the whisk.
Very cool MagicBand!
Thank you! I usually try to find a way to slip in veggies and fruit but this movie night had been giving us such problems I gave up. Little Miss certainly didn't complain! :rotfl:
The Big Stroller Decision!
Okay Experienced Dis Mommies this is where your votes get important. I need to start planning how I am going to make our stroller stand out in the masses so that means that we need to lock down and decide which one we are bringing with us. Here are our options:
9b4ebc37-522a-4ce1-9143-7416a9acd8fd_zpsaadbf9a2.jpg
Option 1: The Jogging Stroller
Pros:
- Wonderful Maneuverability
- The Sun shade moves and can pretty much block out the sun at every angle.
-Larger cup holders up top (still small but at least our water bottles fit)
Cons:
-The basket underneath is not quiet big enough to hold our park backpack in a way that we can still easily access what’s inside.
-Must fully recline the chair BEFORE it can be collapsed
-Hard to get folded (I can never manage it.)
- Folds in half downwards so is very bulky once folded.
20150120_155954_zpsrbmtejtz.jpg
Option 2: The old Standby
Pros:
- MUCH larger basket plenty of room for our backpack to sit with room for quick grab out of it.
-Quick and easy fold
-Folds Flat when collapsed
- The flat folding will make it slightly easier to pack into the car with everything else
- Easy Adjustable handle so that DH and I can change the height of it in a blink.
Cons:
-Maneuverability can get tricky over rough terrain
-The Shade visor is attached to the back of the stroller so can only adjust so far
- Can be a little harder in large crowds
- I remember seeing at least 2-3 of these on our last trip in ‘13
-Smaller cup holders can't quite fit anything but a small water bottle
So Dis Mommies Which would you go with and any suggestions on making it easier to spot in the crowd?
~~~~

On another note, it has been decided that we are throwing me a Disney World themed birthday party this year. Any attraction based food/ adult drink ideas would be helpful. I’ll be sure to share more about it once I get the details set.

I can't help with the stroller as we always rented one at DW (that's before they became so darn expensive).

I LOVE the idea of a Disney themed birthday party. :)
