Taking kids to WDW in stead of throwing birthday parties

DS 7 has had his last two birthdays at WDW. He would much rather be in Disney than have a party with friends. We are heading back down for a cruise and the MNSSHP right before DS turns 5. We are planning to celebrate his birthday on that trip and he is already telling his friends he is having his birthday at Disney World!

I would love to spend my birthday at WDW. The idea of spending my kids birthdays there actually came from my mother. When she turned 50 she took us all (my dad, 2 brothers and myself) to WDW and we were in the Magic Kingdom on her actual 50th birthday, it was great and I think made turning 50 easier for her because she was at the happiest place on earth!

40 is not far around the corner for me - I'm thinking being at WDW for that birthday would be fun! :thumbsup2

MKJMOM - Looking at our countdowns we will be there the same time. Are you going to MNSSHP? We will be at the party on October 2nd. If you are there I will look for your kids to wish them happy birthday!

We did WDW instead of a party for my DD13 this past April. She was able to pick all the places we ate and when and what parks to do what day. We also brought her best friend along and had two connecting rooms so the girls could have their own room. We did an Illuminations birthday cruise. It was much better than a party in my opinion. I, too, hate doing birthday parties.

I think that's a great idea! I've been saying for years that I'm sick of trying to buy toys just to put under the tree at Christmas and that I'd love to celebrate with a trip. This year I am seriously thinking about a Disney trip. I have one b'day boy that will have his b'day in August while we are there. When I made some ADRs the CM asked about that and noted it on our reservation for the 1st day.
