I know that DSIL has said she loved dining at Disney as it is one of the best places to eat with her allergies. She and my niece will be coming along with us in April. They don't go to Disney often so they don't have any preferences as to where they want to go. Any recommendations for places to eat? They are both gluten and dairy intolerant. Plus, dn is 10, so an "adult" based on Disney's standards. We were thinking about O'hanas, but the thought of spending $27 for a 10 year old seems crazy.
Any thoughts. We will only be there for 3 nights with them, and were thinking about 1 breakfast, and 1-2 dinners or lunches for TS.
Also, are there any CS places that can work with their allergies since it is all premade?
Any hints or suggestions are very appreciated, although it may not matter as I don't think I'll ever be able to make my ADRs with Disney's IT problems.

i have quite severe food allergies and must say that every restaurant we did was amazing, CM and Boma went above and beyond, but we have done alot of the onsite places, LTT, CP, wcc, CM, Boatwrights, ohanas, Lec, CDF, Marrakesh (that was an issue and v limited choices...) but all the chefs make a fuss, and check, at CM they fetched me a meal from the wave as i couldnt eat anything on the buffet:thumbsup2
do not worry about it, check out the disabilities forum as loads of info on there, but Boma is stunning and worth every $
hope you enjoy your holiday

I have a dairy allergy and my MIL has a gluten intolerance and the chef made us delicious gluten free/dairy free mickey waffles with strawberry dipping sauce. They also made fresh potatoes and eggs for us. On one trip the chef gave me divvies brownies but on my 2nd trip I didn't get any.

I also had good experiences at Le Cellier and an amazing meal at Boma. The chef pointed out what I could eat and made me a few things to eat (I don't eat any meat but I do eat fish). They also made me a special dessert.

Teppna Edo will also do gluten free but they make your food in the back to avoid cross contamination.

CP will also make you gluten free waffles but they are just frozen waffles, which I eat at home and like. But nothing special. I'd do Chef Mickey's.

Akershus also made me a special plate but it wasn't anything to rave about. I couldn't eat any of the pastries so I had potatoes basically. So I don;t highly recommend there for a non-meat eating dairy allergic person.

Check the disabilities board. I have peanut and tree nut allergies and I've gotten tons of great info there.

In my limited experience Disney goes above and beyond for allergies

Dh has a major turkey sensitivity. For most meals it's not an issue. When we ate at Garden Grill I told the person at the front desk about it because the food is served family style. My thinking was all they really needed to do was put the things with turkey (turkey and stuffing) on a separate plate - fairly easy.

A chef came out and talked to dh then we each got our own plates - mine had everything on it. His food was prepared separately and plated nowhere near the turkey products. I was very impressed.

If you go on the diabilities site there is a number for you to call Brenda once your reservations are made. She will make sure everything is set for you and answer any questions you may have. You can even have the chefs call you before you leave for your trip. They do like to prepare early but most restaurants can come up with something even if you are a walk in. I have heard that france and japan are very difficult to deal with but we have never been there with our allergies.

We had a great experience with Ohana's for breakfast also. the waffles are good. They also use the allergy safe waffles at the Kona CAfe if you do not want to spend character pricing. Most restaurants carry toffuti ice cream or rice dream for dessert they also have sorbet at some restaurants. I do not know if you are going for a special occasion but you can order an allergy free cake from the cake hotline.

The last time we were at Chef Mickeys they also made us the allergy safe Mickey waffles. There are some places though that only have the Vans waffles which are like eggo waffles and i would be really upset to pay that much moeny for a 10 year old to get an eggo waffle.

Tony's is also good for gluten free pasta they have rice pasta in stock and if you get the Chef named Matt he likes to come up with some different varities.

One recommendation is to make all of you reservations and then go back and have them add your allergies later to the reservation because time is very important at 7:00 AM.

I know at pizzafari they make gluten free dairy free pizza we have had it there and it is pretty tastey. They supposedly do this at pizza planet in DHS but we have never eaten there.

We had great success at Prime Time also. The made my daughter rice pasta there.

The plaza was excellent the chefs there were all very helpful and they gave us the same allergy book that you can read at any counter service. Most restaturants carry Ener G bread so they can make an allergy safe burger. Most places will also make fresh fries in fresh oil to make sure there is no cross contamination.

Le Cellier was great and even made a fresh slush for my DD and even opened new bottles of the mixes to make sure nothing was cross contaminated.

I have heard that some restaurants will even make a dairy free shake but I do not know which ones as we have never had one.

Good Luck:wizard:

As you can see we have had a lot of experience with allergies and feel very comfortable with Disney. If you have any more questions you can PM. Good Luck
