Taking an infant, what to put in the park bag

We decided to sneak in a little trip since we so desperately miss WDW and our new baby will be 4 months when we go next month. We are seasoned WDW travelers so only plan on spending mornings and evenings in the parks to help get him out of the mid-day intense sun and completely fine skipping things this trip. What are some things I need to have in my park bag I might not be thinking of? Any other tips?

I know about baby care centers, plan to pack change of clothes, diapers, bottles, formula, fan for the stroller and bought a frogg togg to put in the stroller to cool off his back. What else can you think of?

ETA I also got infant ear protection for loud noises

My kiddos got the Irish blood where they burn if they look at the sun from inside, so I would check with your pediatrician to see if there's a sun block that may be recommended before 6 months and an infant hat.

If your son like pacifiers, a million of them.

Diaper cream. I feel like diaper rash is always worse in the summer with my kids.

Make sure your stroller (rented/owned) has a marker on it to help you find it in the endless sea of strollers. We did a huge bright bow for ours when we traveled. Another really handy thing is an adjustable umbrella for the stroller. Depending on what type of stroller you have, they can be much more helpful for blocking all the sun vs just over baby's face since they tilt and have better coverage.

I'd also recommend the portable ACs that sit in the cup holder and just use ice to pump cold air. I think we got ours on Amazon. We never did a stroller cover since I felt like it was greenhousing my kid in the summer time and would be so hot but that might be something to consider since it's the rainy season.

I am right there with you! going next month with 5 month old and plan on taking it as easy/slow as possible maximizing rest/air conditioning.

To piggyback- I know there is lots of discussion on strollers but I am a bit unsure of best route with a 5 month old who may be too small for many of the suggested options. we have a nice stroller with car seat that attaches and planned on taking this but I am concerned that it will be a huge pain in the but to handle. Any suggestions?

I don't think it would. If your baby is most comfortable in the infant seat, I'd stick with that even with the heat. If you're ok with them strolling in the convertible portion, just leave the infant seat in the hotel room. My girls weren't huge babies but they did pretty good in a forward facing stroller early on. It may not be the best solution but it worked well, we could have it all the way up, half up and fully reclined/pram style.

If the stroller converts all the way to lay flat or some incline, I'd use that instead of the bucket...I feel like at 5 months, my oldest could almost sit upright, or at least partially upright. At 20 months we had to recline her most of the way so she'd stroller nap....

when you say change of clothes I assume you also mean adult clothes also. I would have at least a change of shirt for each adult not just baby

we used a reclining seat stroller without the bucket in an August with a 4 month old as bucket got too hot. daughter and granddaughter found wearing too hot also. remember if you are busing stroller must be folded which means bucket would have to be carried

-Rain cover for the stroller
-Not sure if you care about this, but I used to bring trash bags to cover the germy changing tables before putting my babies on them.
-Diaper cream
-Extra changes of clothes (not just one). We sometimes went through several per day.

He can't wear sunscreen yet, already checked but I did already order a hat for him. Got pacifier clips, he really only uses them at nap/bed time though. Good idea about the diaper cream too!

We always do a bright color scarf for the stroller but I am also going to make us stroller tags this time as I just learned how to on my embroidery machine!

I am looking into that portable AC! We have clip on fans but love the idea of ice to make it extra cold. Tell me more about these umbrellas though. I ordered one on amazon for this very idea but when collapsed was the size of a golf umbrella. I have several small umbrellas but no way to attach them to a stroller. We are planning to buy the Bob Double stroller so it has great canopy coverage but I know his legs may still be exposed to the sun if facing certain directions. Would love a solution for that other than tossing a lite blanket overtop.

Our baby is 3 months now and he has been using our Britax stroller at home for at least a month so I would say you are safe there. Our 5 year old has used the stroller every trip and it's very easy to travel with (we use in the airport and gate check)

Nope, I was just thinking for baby but that's an excellent point! We will make sure to have extra shirts for everyone.

Planning on getting a rain cover with our new double! We used the rain cover for our single almost every day. I have been contemplating what to take for the changing tables. trash bags is a great cheap idea. I plan to use the baby care center whenever humanly possible but I am sure there will be times I need to use a changing table and wanted some sort of disposable liner so that's great.

Also wanted to say I ordered a frogg togg to use in the stroller to put underneath him to keep his back cool. I have tried it at home a few times and it's great. Doesn't stay wet but stays cool. If you are worried about keeping baby cool you might look into them.

The stroller being a pain is a real concern - you'll have to figure out what works best for you not only in the crowds but on and off transportation where you are required to fold it up and carry it. We took a double stroller one time and decided never again - too big to handle on transportation. We see tons of others handling huge strollers, however, so to each their own. What worked best for us was a smallish stroller and a sling for those lines and shows where strollers aren't allowed.
Our first trip to WDW with DD was at 3mo and the biggest challenge was she had thrush - so extra bottle nipples and pacifiers and a hot-pot in which to boil everything that touched her mouth every evening became essential.
We used and still use mineral sunscreen. A UV blocking umbrella makes a huge difference to my tollerance of the heat and I would have had one for the stroller if I had known then what I know now.
Enjoy your trip - we were shocked at how much a 2mo could react to WDW and it added so much extra joy to our trip!

This can not be stressed enough, sunhats!! Anytime the baby is out in the sun, it should be covered and make sure it covers their ears and their neck. The sun is so hot and their skin is very new and sensitive. Even at home, they should have a sun hat on when outside. It makes me want to cry how many little babies I see out in the hot sun with no head protection. Scalp burns are painful and greatly increases their risk of skin cancer when older. The diaper cream is great for any hot, sweaty spots like under arm too.

In addition to shirts for adults, you'd be surprised how many times my daughter has managed to spit up on my pants...shirts you can at least buy in the gift shop (sure it's expensive) but shorts are harder to come by...

So I believe our umbrella was a sport-brella, not golf umbrella sized but smaller and not symmetrical. So the side that's closer to baby is smaller since you likely already have an umbrella on that part of the stroller and then the other side is longer.

Thanks I’ll look into it.

we always do a rental car (SUV) so I’m not too worried about the stroller. We are in a DVC unit and our friends traveling with us have a 2 bedroom so we can use their kitchen to boil water if needed! That had to stink dealing with thrush! I’ve started searching for UV umbrellas already. Thanks for the tips.
