My parents are going be driving to Denver, CO. We live in Rapid City, SD
We will be going from Oct. 7-10

So far we want to go to the Denver Zoo and I am really wanting to go to an Avalanche NHL game( I see there's a game that Oct. 7 night). Does anyone know when tickets would go on sale for the Hockey game? My dad is into Trains, so we will want to take in that as well!

We don't have a lot of time, but would like to see what we can when there!

Also what are some good hotels to stay at? And where is some good places to eat? And of course I need to hit the malls, as you guy's have some stores that we don't have here! Like the Disney Store, must go there when in CO! We don't have a Disney Store here.

if you want to be down town the Westin is good-its right on the 16th street mall-other than that i usually stay at a hilton property for points.
Avs tix are expensive-in the 60 dollar per seat range. the Museum of Natural history is awesome-as is the Downtown aquarium. You dont say why you are coming but if you are staying downtown any of the major malls-Cherry Creek, Flatiron Crossing,Park Meadows-are some drive away.
good places to eat-there is a Cheesecake Factory down down along with the usual chains-outside of that the Samba Room and Cuba Cuba are my favs in that area.

We went to Colorado in March... and have been wondering about whether to move out there! LOL! :thumbsup2

I would say put a day aside to go to Colorado Springs. It's only about an hour drive from Denver. Drive Pike's Peak (or do the Cog Train, since you said your Dad was into trains), visit the Air Force Academy, take a look at some of the Native American museums, do Garden of the Gods, etc. There's so much to do there and it's really, really beautiful!

if your dad is into trians you can do the forney museum just off i-70 and brighton blvd. We are zoo members so we love our so, but in oct be prepared. early oct "should" still be nice weather but there are small chances it could be cold and snowy as well, so just be prepapred. Denvers motto is you dont like the weather wait 5 minutes.

avs tickets can get pricy but if you dont mind sitting 2nd level you can get them cheap too, just keeping checking thier site for when they go on sale.

a fun cheaper place to stay but not far from westin is the curtis which is now owned by doubletree, its right on 15th and curtis block away from 16th street mall. are you looking for a hotel thats more nice or more price saving?

in October if you are into it Denver has an enourmous amount of haunted houses for the season (in fact I help run 3 of them). also dont forget about the museum of nature and science as well as the art museum, butterfly pavillion.

If she has 3 days and 1 day is zoo 1 day is shopping she wont have time to do all the fun stuff in colorado springs.
