Taking a group of HS kids. How to advise to carry their money?

I am taking a group of high school kids in June.

I am wondering what sort of advice I should give their parents about how they should deal with their money. (They'll only need spending money. Everything else is included and paid for.)

I know some of them will take debit or check cards, those prepaid visa cards, etc.

If some of them take travelers checks, can they cash them at the resort? What if they don't have a driver's license? (Most of them are 13-15 years old.)

Any thoughts or suggestions?

How about Disney Dollars? Or they can get the new gift cards when they get there. Then they just have to worry about one card instead of loose cash or travelers checks.

I'll ask my sister tonight if this thread is still going on she takes her band down about every other year.
One thing they have learned is if you will stop to eat on the bus ride home have every parent put $10. in a sealed envelope before they leave and have the director keep this for the ride home. Too many times kids spent themselves out of money and had a very hungry 20 hr. ride home.

I didn't want to go with Disney Dollars, since that's no better than cash as far as them loosing it, etc. What we're looking for is something with some security. (I mean something that can be replaced if lost, etc.) I know they'll need some small amounts of cash, but I don't think they should carry the majority of their spending money as cash. Am I wrong? I just know that most of them will head down there with a ton of money to burn and I don't like the idea of them carrying around lots of cash or Disney Dollars.

I don't know about the gift cards. Can anybody give me more information on that?

That's a good idea, but we're flying. Also, all their meals (including travel meals) are included in the price they are paying. So, the only money they will be carrying will be for snacks, cokes, t-shirts, other souvineers, etc. Still, I know that most of them will have several hundred dollars and I'd hate for someone to loose it all. We'll be there for 8 nights.

Kids will be hitting the ice cream carts, turkey leg stands, and popcorn carts a lot. I know that some have cc, debit card, and room card capability's, but not all. Also they will need to carry their pass to the parks for FP access. I would get the around the neck clear vinyl holder like for press event's. Mostly waterproof and if everyone carried the same type with maybe group trip info taped on outside or left inside the pouch if lost. You can try your hardest, but they will still do what they want..lol  By the way, my DD turned 15 yesterday!!! Time does fly by fast since our Ill. cruise!! Cute picture of your DS by the way. Have fun. Brent :thumbsup2
