Taking our first Disney Cruise and wondering if we'll get any perks on the cruise. We booked through DVC as we used some points and cash for the cruise. Don't expect anything, just curious if they do anything special for us as DVC members.

Thanks.

You will be invited to one or two Members meeting. There are trivia games with prizes at these and they may have some special prices for add ons. On one evening, you may get a card to hand in at the DVC desk to get a special pin. The card was left by the cabin steward as he was doing the nightly rounds. The one they were giving away in November was a ship's wheel. I was able to get 3, one for each DGC who was with me, so I didn't have mine for long, so I don't really remember what it looked like.

Do you have to book your cruise though DVC to attend any DVC member events? We are DVC members but not booking our cruise through DVC

No, we were strictly cash, booking through Dreams Unlimited. Disney "knows" you're DVC and you should get the invitations. I think the meetings are listed in the daily navigator, for sure the first one is. I think it was on the day we boarded.

We cruised on 3/4 points, 1/4 cash in November 2010. They had DVC magnets on our door for us. We got a few giveaways at the presentation. We received the card to exchange for the pin,and then they left a wooden jewelry type box (about 7x5x3, but nice wooden one) one night, and I think they left some chocolates with one of the drop offs. It was more than I expected. :)

Everytime we have cruised, whether on points or not there have always been a DVC "gift" of some sort in the stateroom. It amazes me that Disney knows who are DVC members when not traveling on points.

Not counting the two member cruises, but one cruise we got these really neat cruise document holders, that doubled as a photo album/memory book. There is always a DVC magnet on the door. It's fun to see just how many DVC members are sailing, plus they have the DVC member function. I won a tour of the Walt Suite with a reception.

Well this will be a fun test for our cruise in 2012. We're not the "primary" member on our DVC contract. My parents are. We were added awhile back for estate planning and have since added on points but left their names on so we'd have one membership #.

Interesting to see if we're recognized as DVC members since we're not the primary member. Guess I'll find out in 14 months...

All we got on ours (booked cash) was the DVC door magnet. No special surprises, no special invites to the meetings.

We went right before Halloween. We got magnets, baseball caps, lanyards and trading pins. something different each night. We also went to the welcome home member presentation and got some nice tropical drinks. Fun!

Wow, I hope we're as fortunate as many of you. Heck, the door magnet would be pretty cool. I also heard they give you a DVC lanyard for each guest in your suite, anyone heard of that or experienced that?

Thanks for all the replies!!!

Maybe the DVC lanyards were in the wooden jewelry box that's been described, because we too came home with DCL AND DVC lanyards, and I don't really know where we got them.

I had no idea there were little perks for DVC members on cruises. I can't wait to see what we get on our April cruise! :woohoo: This is so exciting to me!!!

Just back from a WC cruise, on a cash-only ressie. We had magnets on our door and a wooden box with 2 lanyards in it. We went to the Member-only DVC meeting and 1 other DVC presentation. At the member event, they had a number of "raffles" where they gave out an assortment of bags, passport holders, etc. Everyone got a hat. They had free champagne. There are also OBC raffles at all the presentations.

We got a pin and a number of prints plus multiple bags, pens, etc. (Almost every day we had a message on our phone saying we could come to the DVC desk and pick up a new item.) They were happy to give away things and chat.

They also have some of the best direct add-on deals around. They are happy to give you stuff, so if they don't have the magnets on your door, make sure you go to the DVC desk and ask for them and get your stateroom on the list!

We got the cute wooden box too. We did get Lanyards with the photo holder on them. Handy for extra magic hours at work.

My parents cruised on points (quite some time ago) and got nothing. No magents, no messages, no invites, nothing.

I was AT work- talking to someone ABOUT work and typing at the same time. Who says I can't multi-task? ;)
I wish we had extra magic hours at work- hours which I got paid for but didn't actually have to be there for? :wizard:

I just went on the Cruise to Nowhere on the Wonder--my friend (who was in another cabin) got DVC gifts even though they booked on cash. I got nada. She got the wooden box, lanyards, etc.

I got nada.

I dropped by the DVC desk and mentioned that I didn't get MY gifts. They checked the list and for some reason my friend's cabin was listed twice--so they think it was probably a typo. They told me to drop by a few minutes later and they had my gifts for me--but it was still disappointing not to get it delivered to the room, etc. (yes, I am a princess and need to be pampered).

I hope they don't have a typo on their list next time.
