Taking a baby on Toy Story Mania

Can you do this? She'll be 6 months then and most likely in a baby wrap or we could hold her... but is it safe to do this? Has anyone else?

she will be safe without you holding or supporting her at all. The popguns take two hands to operate...one to point and one to pull the ball and string.

If she's not wiggly this might work, but when they tell you you're about to move, hold on to her. If the CA version is like the one at WDW it whips around the corner fast enough that the motion might scare an unsuspecting baby!

We went in Sept & my friend had her 2.5 month old on that ride w/no problems. I'd really hold onto her as you transition from "room" to room though (after you play each individual game) as the ride is pretty quick at that point. Otherwise you'll be fine. We went back in Nov and the baby was 4.5 and still no problems on that ride. As long as you are holding on extra tight when you move rooms you'll be fine.

Also, I think you'd probably just want to hold the baby given the lap bar. After the lap bar comes down you can adjust her. If she was in a carrier I think it might be more difficult to adjust her.

I saw plenty of people with babies on their laps. They just put the baby on their lap and then pulled the bar down.

I did it with a 1 yo. He sat next to me. I would have my arm around him as we moved, and then when we stopped I could let go and play the game. It worked ok, but I always quit the game a bit early to make sure I was supporting him for the transition.

I have taken my littlest one on when it opened when she was 18 months old. That being said.....

I'm going to be the cautionary parent and say it would be best to baby swap on that one until they are really old enough and not wiggly enough to be good sitting. They had me put her on the seat next to me and the bar came down extremely tight, but.....

I spent the entire time on the ride not focused on my game, but worrying that she was going to squiggle out of those bars enough to get free while I was shooting away with both hands. Then there was the whipping around to the next set. I really felt I had to hold on tight to her. She loved the motion and the sights, but I would have felt safest, if I was riding with a companion and having her in the middle.

After a couple experiences like that, we are now taking turns doing single rider or else baby swapping, so our 3 yr old can go - she does really well with the game. In another 6 months, when she can really get into pulling the cord, then we'll try again.

My wife carried our 4 month old on this ride in a baby bjorn, it was no problem at all.

Just an FYI, there is no official child swap for TSMM because there is no height limit. So if you want to swap off, you'll have to wait in line both times.

Do they have to sit next to you? I'll skip the ride if thats the case. I have a petite 20 month old and I don't think there is any way the bar could come down tight enough to make the ride safe for her. I figured she could sit on dh lap like all the other rides (she usually sits on my lap but I'm preggo).

My brother and sil took their 7 mo old on TSM in December and it went fine. I do agree with the tip about holding on when they tell you you're going to move. It does whip you around.

Okay, I'm confused? When did Disney issue a list of rides on which you can baby swap? If they did, they need to apologize for those specials they had on the travel channel this past year. On those shows they stated that you could baby swap any time you needed to!

What I can say is, even as babies my children were active enough that I couldn't just sit them on my lap and expect them to stay there. If you want to risk your kid flinging himself/herself to the floor of the ride, it's your call.

I wouldn't ride this ride with a baby unless I had the baby in a restraint of some sort.

Any ride with a height restriction has child swap for those with children who are too short to ride.

We just returned on Thursday and were able to do child swap on this ride. We didn't actually end up doing it because my 2 year old wanted to ride it, but they did give us the little child swap card.

I took my 7 month old on it and no I wouldn't do it again. I am usually one that takes all my kids on everything they can, but this one is pretty jerky. I had no idea and I would have to brace her head and neck everytime we moved. I was able to shoot the gun with one hand because I wasn't able to take my hand off of my daughters head/neck. She was able to sit on my lap but honestly, if you can do without taking the baby on, I would suggest that. Now when they are a bit older, 1yr or a bit more sturdy, then I think it would be just fine.

yeah, when the ride starts, it can get pretty jerky. and it spins pretty crazy too at the beginning. after that, it shouldnt be that jerky.

Spinning???? Ok enlighten me...I had some say it wasn't bad, but spinning will listerally make me sick? Are we talking teacup spinning? I won't even do Roger rabbit because of the spinning.

After each screen you swing around a corner to the next screen. The car spins around once or twice. It's pretty zippy, but doesn't last long.

It didn't bother me, but I can see how it could bother someone who suffers from motion sickness easily.

My husband has very bad motion sickness. He went on this ride and it did make him feel sick for a little while. Nothing like he would get on the Teacups...but it did affect him.

Ah man...I'm starting to have second thoughts now. I would hate to miss the ride
