Taking my 5year old DS for his birthday in September 2013, also will first time flying and away from home. He has some well say "moderate" sensory issues and sometimes change is challenging. I would really appreciate any advice on parks and restaurants. We are staying at pop century for the bright colors and transportation seems to be pretty efficient there.

I was thinking chef Mickey s for either breakfast or dinner, Ohana, Whispering Canyon Cafe, Trails end, T Rex cafe, planetnollywood.....any input would be great

Staying 8 days 7 nights, 6 day park hopper and bought the dining plan with 1 qs and 1ts and 1 snack

Thanks !! :)

Some of those dining options may be loud...will he be okay with that? You did mention sensory issues.

Cape May would be a quieter breakfast and still have the main characters.

What does he like to eat?

Agree with previous poster -- you've got some choices there at places that are pretty loud and chaotic.

Character dining is definitely fun, but one thing to think about is that sometimes for very young children it is difficult to get them to calm down and eat because they are just so wrapped up in having the characters come to the table. You might want to think about just doing one character meal.

I'd recommend scoping out your overall plan for each day of your trip -- decide which park(s) you'll visit, and then plan to eat at the most appealing place in the park. allearnet(dot)com has all the menus for all the restaurants, listed by location -- a great resource.

I agree with previous posters - T-Rex especially is extremely loud (meteor showers, etc.) .... I obviously don't know any details of your sons conditions but I would be a bit cautious with that one

You might want to do your best to do pre-opening meals as they can be a little quieter

We did a really early ADR for crystal palace - which has a really nice breakfast buffet btw - and the park itself was empty when we got there and the restaurant itself was 1/2 full at most

if you could do more buffets ...that way you arent waiting around for the meal to arrive...the Tusker house Restaurant in AK is not a real noisy or bright restaurant...well laid out and plenty of food options.

if noise isnt an issue...then try the Crystal palace for dinner also...and ask for a booth instead of the chairs...more comforting..

Same with Biergarten..nice choices..

we have a dining with restaurants and menu's listed...and each restaurant will tell you if they accept the ddp and what is on the menu...
Hope this helps

Thank you all so much! He is very loud and likes constant movement so I'm thinking maybe the buffets will be a good choice in case he wants to get up. He likes pizza and chicken nuggets so im pretty sure i can find those everywhere. Thanks so much for the tips!
