Takeout from Blue Bayou?

I will take a shot at this since nobody else is, granted this will al be assumption.

I figure since BB is a place you need a ressi to get into, and that there is no number to call it directly, that the only way you could do this is get a ressi, go there, order but ask for it boxed up to go.

Next time we're there, we will check this out for you. On a side note, we did this at Disney's Hollywood Studios in WDW at the Brown Derby. We really wanted to try the famous grapefruit cake, but did not have reservations. The CM happily took our order and brought us a piece of cake all boxed up and ready to eat with plastic forks included. It took about 10-15 minutes. They may not have the same policy at the Blue Bayou, but it would be worth trying if there's a dessert you're really interested in. BTW, do you have a specific dessert in mind?

The CMs at the podium at BB seem bothered by just having to get you to a table. I can't imagine them boxing up dessert and forks in 10 minutes. I have no idea if this is something they do or not, just my two cents about the CMs we've encountered there.

Based on so many positive recommendations on the boards, we ate there on my Birthday last month. It was our least favorite meal of our vacation. We live in the south and get a lot of great Cajun food down here. No one in our family liked the food at Blue Bayou. The atmosphere is what made the dinner fun. We had a waterfront seat and my kids loved the pirate hat menus...

I don't know about DL, but at WDW they will normally not give orders to go. The only exception to this is if you are already seated and have had your meal and want dessert to go your server may get it already packaged.

And as far as the comment about Brown Derby: the Grapefruit Cake is also available at Starring Roles, the Bakery/Quick Service location attached to the Brown Derby; that is probably where the person got it from instead of sending you around the corner.

What did you not like about the food and what did you have?

I heard this question asked to one of the cast member at the podium and she said no not even for desert this was last year maybe things have changed hope that helps

To the OP, I think you'd need to be seated, order, and then suddenly find yourself with a need to leave... I know for sure they can box stuff to go, but I think you'd need to be inside the restaurant as though you're going to eat. Leave a nice tip, and you'd be helping people behind you get in faster! Win (the tip) win (you get your stuff to go) win (people get your table faster than anticipated by the host/ess) situation. :)

FWIW, at one point in the last year I read a VERY different experience that someone had when asking the same question. It involved being borderline berated for asking such a thing, that they didn't do it, that they were a nice restaurant, etc etc etc...I am VERY glad that that wasn't your experience, but I do think you got lucky!

Thanks for all your help. A couple of us wanted to try the trio of creme brulee. Is there anywhere else in Disney or nearby where we can get good creme brulee?

Maybe we will just go for dessert. I guess we will play it by ear and see if we really want to wait for a table. Will the wait generally be longer for a group of 7 than for smaller groups?

A little update...I went to Disneyland tonight and stopped by the Blue Bayou to ask about your dessert take-out question. The CM at the podium giggled at first and said nobody had ever asked her that, but she was 99% sure the answer was "no." She politely referred me to the "dine line" and said they could give me a definite answer. I called and they confirmed that BB does not do take out of any kind, even dessert. Good luck on your creme brulee quest! You might want to check Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen (in DTD). I believe they have a creme brulee sampler (Grand Marnier, cafe au lait, and vanilla ginger), but I've never tried it.

Honestly I doubt you can get a dessert to go. We have eaten there 3 times once just for dessert then dinner the last night. My 5 y/o daughter wanted dessert the first day as she had been asking for the cookie boat for months before we went during halloween week last year. I would think it would be really hard to get the cookie boat boxed as it is a big presentation with the big stand up pirate sails and such, same with the tortuga creme brulee as we had both. You can take the sails from the boat home along with the treasure chest from the creme brulee since it is REALLY hard molded sugar, and not edible. I have the treasure chest in my curio cabinet kept in it's plastic doggie bag container. The cookie ship has ice cream with it, and the brulee comes in little glass bowls. If you want to just do desserts I would just book a seating and have dessert as the atmosphere is just too cute, and worth it if you're a pirates fan.:wizard:

Thank you for going through the trouble in finding out for me. We will look into the creme brulee sampler at Ralph Brennan's.

Granted this was a long time ago, but I used to get the Monte Cristo as take out. This was before Cafe Orleans started selling it. I would just walk up to the podium, tell them what I want. Sometimes they would be confused and have to go ask, other times they would know what to do. But I was always able to get my order, not once was I refused.

We were able to do this also many years ago. Mind the menu wasn't as pricey LOL and you were still able to walk up at opening and easily make same day ressies too :) boy things have changed, they used to have rosemary bread mmmm and you could get as many chocolate doubloons as you wanted :) oh the good old days! LOL

I don't think they do it anymore. If you want creme brulee you can also get it Mimi's across the street, they will do takeout. :)
