Hi guys !! Hope everything is going great for you. I had a lousy, lousy week at work, but it seems to be over for now. I decided not to sweat it anymore and concentrate on our trips, past and future.
Today I contacted "our" motel in Fort Lauderdale and confirmed availability for "our" apartment from July 18-26th. It costs a little more than it used to - actually it's more than what we're paying for our Holiday Inn in Orlando, and I think I will have to discuss adding a day in Orlando with my mom.
The Holiday Inn is booked. So is Disney, of course. All that's missing now are our AA flights from Miami to Orlando on the way in, and our Southwest flights from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale. I don't want to book those until I know for sure the trip is a go.
Anyway this is what it looks like for now
We should arrive in Orlando around 5.30 on July 8th. I will do the online check-in so we can save time, because I want to head straight to Epcot and see the last Slippery When Wet concert. Grumpy doesn't think she'll come along, which is okay. Maybe I'll take Jon out for a drink after he's done singing
Then we have six full days of Disney. Of course since the park hours are not up yet GRRRRRRRRRR I have no idea which parks we'll do on which days. I do know we want to take advantage of the EMH, morning and evening.
Park hours don't matter very much though because we're going to cut wayyyy back on food. We both want to have dinner at Boma and Fulton's (my shellfish allergy seems to have suddenly disappeared) and we may want to do one character breakfast, but besides those, it will be CS or snacks only. July's gonna be way too hot for big meals anyway.
I'm strangely looking forward to Universal. I'm going to do my homework this time, know the park's schedule, which ride to hit first, etc... I was looking into Island of Adventure a few days ago but I think the rides are too scary for us. There's one thing I'm worried about in the Studios. See, I'm deathly afraid of E.T. and no it's not a joke. When my mother took me to see the movie when I was a little kid, after the scene where his face pops up in the garden, I went to hide under the seat and would not budge even when the lights came back on. It took my mom, grandma, sister, and the theater manager to get me out. I tried to watch the movie again as an adult, and could not make it past that scene.
Guess which ride Grumpy wants me to do at Universal ?? It's her payback for me putting her on Test Track.
