Remember to return your overdue library books. Those notices need to be taken seriously. This 20 year old was handcuffed and stuffed in the back of a cruiser for not returning the books and paying the fine. I would have posted the story but the mug shot is worth the click!

and this is why my school does not do overdue fines because when you are writing four different papers ranging in length from 20 to 120 pages you need a lot of books and you need them for a while.

We have fines, but I believe they're only due at the end of the year.
or at the end of the semester. Not sure.
It's never anything big. I think it's like 25 cents every week?
I don't know I had a french book for a while that I never read and then I owed like a dollar.

lol wut? At our library you can't check out materials if you have more than a dollar of fines on your card, and if it's checked out for more than a month I think that you have to pay for it. (Plus the four dollars in fines, hehe. Or maybe it's just the four dollars... I don't actually know. I probably should. Maybe I'll ask tomorrow. ) Are we being too lenient, perhaps?

Talk about over-reaction on the library's part. But still, if the girl (perp? ) received a court order, she probably should have known that they meant business and returned the books. Was it really worth it? Books she needed for school, I can imagine being held that long, but just a couple of popular novels... no, not seeing a need there to hold 'em for that long. 'Course, she could have forgotten, but again, the mailing they sent isn't something I would've ignored. Just a weird incident overall. O:

Also, not exactly related to the article, but I wanna know what this chick has against public libraries. Srlsy, this is like the third or fourth time in just the last few visits to the CB I've made where she had dug up some article about how dangerous and negative and useless libraries are. What gives? :|
