Have any of you taken a taxi from the parks to Off site hotels and if so, how would this work and what is the cost? We are staying in Linsfields vacation home which is 3 miles to the gate...

We are using an 8 person van but my mom may need to leave early and thought this would work out cheaper than a second car all week.

To which "gate"? From 192 (which I suspect is the "gate" you are referring to) it's another 6 miles or so to the TTC. From there she'd need to transfer to the monorail to get into the MK.

The cabs run on meters. From the AKL (which is the closest you can get to 192) it's about a $16 cab ride to the GF, plus tip.. That's in the early evening during a slow season with no traffic.

From any park to your rental I'd plan on it costing at least $20 plus tip.

I'd try to get a cheap compact either through Priceline or one of the local rental companies. Should be able to get it for less than $100, which would be cheaper than taxis.

You did mean that she would need to leave the parks early each day to go back to your rental, not that she would be leaving to go back home early, right?

There are 6 of them so I don't think a compact would work. If you only need it for a few days, why would you rent a car for the whole week?

I will explain better...........
There are 8 of us, but my mom has medical issues that MAY make it so she will need to go back to the rental earlier than the rest of us. (just off 192)
I do not think this would be daily but she needs an option just in case. We live so rural we don't even have cabs so I have no clue how they work or what they cost. We were going to rent an 8 pass. van as it was cheaper than 2 cars. Even if we have 2 cars we need big enough cars that if she leaves we can fit the rest of us in the other...large cars are PRICEY!
How does priceline work with rental cars????

Oh, that's much clearer. I interpreted the OP as your mom would be leaving Orlando with the van before the vacation was done. Not that she needed to leave the park early on some days.

Try this site for priceline info:

See, what I was saying was they rent the van for the main group and a compact for her mom to use by herself. I bet that would be cheaper than 2 cars, esp if she got the compact thru one of the local rental companies (L&M, Payless, etc) or off Priceline (will get the big 5 companies).
